Agree. Lived and learned. I dropped most except family and my USF academic and athletics feeds.

What is this 'face book' of which you speak? My people know nothing of this. We communicate as our ancestors have, using the drum and occasionally smoke signals (when it's not overly dry).

I have recently discovered another option which works well.  If you see something you don't like, you can click the dropdown on the right hand side.  You can either choose to not display posts that are "similar" to that post (which usually means they will hide posts from that site).  Or you can just "unfollow" the person without unfriending them.  So you don't see their posts.
