My concern is that he never mentions the Big XII by name. Is he aware of which conference is looking at expansion? Why hasn't he made public overtures? Clearly there's nothing being done and he's just trying to pull the wool over our eyes here. I'm on to you Mr. Harlan.

We have something most other schools do not. A plethora of corporations surrounding the University. We may not have a T. Boone Pickens, but we have billions being generated here in the bay area. It would be nice if they jumped on the bus.

You saying Houston, UConn, UCF, Memphis, etc don't also?  Kind of a blanket statement

Pretty sure he just demanded excellence there.

We need to get some big donators to chip in some money.

We  have big donors, we need greater numbers of more moderate donors.

Surprisingly, ANY donation counts. While the total dollars are important, the actual number of donors are also very important.

Ooffff, this is not good.  Programs that are truly expecting to be considered for expansion do not send letters like this.  I agree with everything Harlan said, but with expansion looming, the time to accomplish the tasks he laid out was about 3-5 years ago.  This reads very much like what Memphis sent out to their fan bases.  You don't see Cincy, UCF, or BYU (the three most talked about expansion teams) sending out letters like this to their fan bases.

I will always bleed green and gold, but this hurts.  Hopefully, a miracle will occur and the Big 12 will stay put for another 3-5 years.

The letter, to me, sounds like managing expectations. In reading it, the AD has said that we (as a community) are focusing on the things which we can control. As much as USF would like to be on the good side of the velvet rope, the letter explains that that sort of decision making is not something we can control, although we can - hopefully - bring our positives forward as an attempt to influence the decision making in our favor. Nothing is definite - and there is no indication that a decision is forthcoming anytime soon. Gotta remember, conference realignment is the hot topic for discussion, and this signals that "Yeah...it's not like we don't know about it and yeah, we wanna be included". Not really earth shattering.
