He definitely paid for the square footage as the interior upgrades are mid-tract level quality at best and the layout doesn't scream custom quality (except the cabinetry). I guess when you get your first fat contract, you want to run with the Jones' (I bought a Boxster and Z4 within months of each other when I was making nice coin back in the day prior to getting married - I get it). On a different note, I found the cabinets well appointed and the exterior BBQ has a lot of appeal. He could get more bang for his buck in a house half the size with more elegant upgrades in my opinion (and a location closer to the water). If I'm dropping $1M+ in Florida on a house, the house would have a higher end travertine tile or reclaimed wood flooring installed (most likely both), a lot higher series of granite or marble counters, a variation in paint throughout, a higher end carpet, etc. Curious to see what he settles on for his new digs...

Looks like it backs up to a preserve or something. If that's part of the property, even better--looks very private from the overhead pic. That BBQ and pool area...ahhhhhh. Interesting how players shrink once they retire...he really lost a lot of weight. Except Shaun King.

Don't need to live on the water, I think. We're all close enough that the beach is but an hour away. I used to door-to-door sell Verizon to people in Largo. A couple miles from the beach. Not all that great really.

Depends. We're just a quick drive (minutes) to St. Pete or C'water or any of the other beaches around the area. Although we've been fortunate for some time, the idea of having to evac due to weather & insurance concerns is motivation to NOT live on the water (for me). It's kind of like the boat jokes: The two best days in a boaters life are the day he buys the boat and the day he sells it, and : the only thing better than owning a boat is having a friend who owns a boat. Granted, living on the water would be nice...just not nice enough for me to spring for it. Besides, once we're awash in global warming rising tides, we're all gonna be living on the water - like it or not.

I personally prefer living on the golf course...
