Not sure where you are seeing that, but it can't be guaranteed money.  He's getting somewhere around $40 K for his one week cameo, and he'll continue to get that if he can stick next week and into next year.  Pretty good money for a weeks work, but you'd have to think his odds of sticking aren't too great for next year unless he does something good in the next two weeks.

" B.J. Daniels signed a 2 year, $1,100,000 contract with the Houston Texans, including an average annual salary of $550,000. In 2015, Daniels will earn a base salary of $60,000. Daniels has a cap hit of $60,000. "

However, this is not  guaranteed money. He will still have to continually stay on the team. Being a fringe player it could go either way. I do hope he stays on however as his  resilience is something to be admired.

I know BJ was allowed to be stashed on Seattle's practice squad this year due to a new roster stipulation in the NFL. As a player who is constantly on the fringe of active roster and practice squad so far in his career is he going to be eligible for the Practice Squad next year? That could go a long way on whether he sticks to the active roster or not; if the Texans decide he's valuable and can't stash him I'd think he'd stick.

Exactly.

Actually, we already know that BJ isn't making $550K this year.  That salary is based on 16 games, so he's already guaranteed not to get most of that money since 14 games have passed.

True, but didn't he sign a contract for $510,000 with Seattle? So it would have been that salary prorated for his time there and then his $550,000 prorated for the remainder of the season with Houston?

He did not get $510,000 while on the practice squad.  That would only be for games that he was on the main roster.

I'm not saying he's poor, because practice squad money is pretty good money for a 20 something kid just out of college.  And he's spent most of these three years on one practice squad or another.  But the $500K is divided amongst 16 games and he only gets the prorated amount for those games he is on the main roster and not the practice squad.  I think he's only been on the main roster two or three games prior to this one (for 2015 season).
