Bulls Paint Miami Green & Gold

More than 5,000 USF tickets distributed for Miami Beach Bowl

USF students purchase nearly 1,200 tickets

TAMPA, DEC. 20, 2015  – USF will have a great Green and Gold presence in Miami for Monday’s postseason clash with No. 25 Western Kentucky.

More than 5,000 tickets have been distributed from USF’s Miami Beach Bowl ticket allotment and nearly 1,200 of those are USF students who will bring the roar of The Herd to Marlins Park for the 2:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.  A sold-out students section and the largest USF fan turnout in the Bulls’ seven-game bowl history are expected to create a great atmosphere for the nationally televised game, the only bowl game on Monday’s slate.

“Wow! Big-time!” Head Coach Willie Taggart said when informed of the anticipated turnout of Bulls fans. “I know the Bulls Nation is very excited about the football program. They’re excited about where it’s going and this is what we all wanted.”

Fans not making the trip to Miami can enjoy the Coke Zero Watch Party at the Varsity Club Sports Bar & Grille in Clearwater (24091, U.S. 19) from 2-6 p.m.

USF’s presence can also be seen with Miami Beach Bowl billboards standing high at eight locations around the city. Bulls fans will be greeted by familiar faces as they enter Miami on I-95 North. Billboards feature artwork that showcases head coach Willie Taggart on one design and Miami natives Quinton Flowers (Miami Jackson HS), Deatrick Nichols (Miami Central HS) and Darius Tice (Miami Northwestern HS) on another.

Flowers and the Bulls got a big kick out of seeing a box truck with USF digital billboards parked outside of American Airlines Arena as they attended the Miami Heat-Toronto Raptors game on Friday night.

“It’s pretty cool to see yourself on something,” said Flowers, who was a star quarterback for Miami Jackson High School. “A lot of people have been calling and texting to say they saw me around town. Some have joked that they almost got in an accident because they were so excited.”

The Bulls have given fans a lot to cheer about leading up to the program’s first bowl appearance since 2010. USF is on the verge of matching the single-season school record of nine victories after winning seven of the past eight games, the Bulls’ best-ever stretch.

Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased through USFBullsTix.com or by calling 1-800-GoBulls. Get travel info, an event schedule and much more at USFBowlCentral.com.
