We moved up 1 spot to crack the top 20. St. John's is now ranked so both our losses are to ranked teams

RPI ratings are dumb. Oklahoma St will be a formidable opponent but apparently the team we just destroyed has a higher RPI than any other team we will face this season with the exception of UCONN. RPI is a joke of a statistic.

I wouldn't consider them dumb perhaps not perfect but certainly not dumb. Very rarely is the RPI incorrect in determining who goes to the big dance, i think last year there were two teams that the RPI said should be in it that were not. Since the dance is what we strive for I think the RPI is incredibly relevant and certainly not a joke when it comes to the selection committee.

There is a middle ground. RPI is very valid at the end of the season. We are still pretty early on, and RPI still has some early season quirks (every year it does). So my advice is don't worry to much about it now, but say February 1st on, it tells a powerful story.

Exactly.

Some teams schedule easy games in the non conference part of the season and then they play a tough conference schedule.

Other teams do exactly the opposite.

So, at this point, RPI is not nearly as relevant.
