Air Force was never offered by the Big 12.

Remember, they are already IN a conference... but there is no reason for them to leave the Mountain West for the AAC.  Travel from Colorado Springs would suck for them.

Army was already in a conference (C-USA) and decided they wanted out because they wanted more freedom to schedule.  Basically anyone would be happy to play Army

BYU has a major problem that will prevent the Big 12 from ever taking them -- and make it impossible to get them into an eastern conference: Sunday.  They need to have all of their athletes home by midnight Utah time in Saturdays.   No travel, no games, nothing on Sundays in any sport ever.

Army also wanted out of C-USA because they were getting clobbered by most of the teams, except when USF scheduled them as a homecoming appointment.  I remember that is when the first "Fire Jim Leavitt" chants started.

This sounds like a very short sighted, and idiotic, decision made by the AF AD, if it's indeed true. But, very happy we have AD's like this leaving room for us :).

Well the term "military intelligence" is an oxymoron.

We need both Tulane & Tulsa for academics. Also, Tulane has a good baseball program and their women's hoops is decent. Tulane stays! They just hit a home run hire with the Georgia Southern coach. I expect them to be pretty tough by the time we play them

Again, who cares about women's hoops and baseball??? They don't pay the bills. Does the conference get any $ for "academics"? No, they don't. Send Tulane packing.

yes the conf gets money for academics if they go 6-6 to a bowl game.

Each conference will receive $300,000 for each of its schools when the school’s football team meets the NCAA’s APR for participation in a post-season football game.

Well hell, we don't need Tulane to do that.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
