College Football Playoff Expansion

And this is the point you are missing. USF will never get a shot at the NCG if it stays at 4 teams. An undefeated USF team won't get chosen by the voters. It's rigged for the P5 right now.

This is not 100% certain.  An undefeated USF can get selected, but never over an undefeated P5 team.

For an UNDEFEATED G5 champ to make the playoffs:

1 - Start the season ranked.

2 - Beat two P5 teams OOC, one of whom should be ranked (if both are ranked, even better)

3 - Hope one or more of your conference teams gets respect/ranked at some point in the season.

4 - Get a couple of upsets early in the season, to get into Top 10 as early as possible.

Remember -- USF made it to #2 in the BCS because of the Voters: AP and Coaches were both part of the BCS in 2007.

If Memphis had won out, they would have been in the Top 6 for sure... (they were 13 in the initial poll this year and all but Clemson and Alabama ahead of them lost in the weeks that followed)

Is it EASY, hell no.  Any undefeated team from a P5 gets the benefit of the doubt - even if they don't start ranked... but it is POSSIBLE.

^ This, the only way a G5 has a real shot is if they are guaranteed a spot.  Eight teams, five P5 champs, highest G5 champ, 2 at large, done.

With that format these would be the games:

Clemson v. Ohio State

Alabama v. Iowa

Michigan State v. Houston

Oklahoma v. Stanford

sounds good to me

Usf would be in the playoff if we were undefeated this year.

glad to hear you run the committee.  I thought it was only full of experts.

We would have beaten ranked FSU, Temple, Memphis (right before their upset of ole miss), Navy, and then Houston in the CCG. 3-0 vs P5 with 5 ranked wins? We would have been top 6 for sure. Id like to say top 4, but i just cant say that with certainty

I don't think this is true. If we had been undefeated this year and next year -- I think, then, they might let us in.

so you think we would be in if we were undefeated this season?  Who would the committee drop to put us in?  Bama?  Undefeated Clemson?  Please, you are delusional if you think a 12 member committee of old farts is going to put USF ahead of anyone in the playoffs.  Undefeated USF ranked higher than 11-1 Ohio State, or 11-1 Okl State?  Not a chance
