why should the fcs schools have the only real playoff? I think FBS owes it to the teams, the fans, and the sponsors. If it's about money, think of how much more could be made with a larger format!

they expanded from 16 to 24 some 20 years ago

Would an undefeated AAC team get into a 6 team playoff? If not then it should go to 8.

If it was structured in a way where each P5 conf champ gets in AND the highest ranked independent or G5 conf champ gets the 6th spot, I think that would be perfect.

The playoff format isn't what keeps the G5 out of the playoffs, it's the competition we play that prevents it.

I  know you might just be being contrarian but why is 6 "perfect".  That is not just directed at you but anyone with that view.   

Why not 32?  Why would it be awesome to see a huge college playoff at the end of the year? 

The reason I say it is happening anyway is there is just too much money being left on the table.   They will get greedy and incrementally start adding teams. 

Once they broke the seal and started a 4 team playoff the die was cast.

good question.  I think that by having determined already who is the best in each P5 conference by having the conf champ go to the playoff means a lot.  The 6th spot going to the highest rated G5 conf champ or independent also allows a path for the smaller schools.  By having 32 teams make the playoffs it dilutes the value of the regular season and the great tradition of the game.
