I think it might be. According to McMuffin he's not coaching GA on their bowl game. Sounds like an immediate departure. I doubt he will only be recruiting once he arrives

That would suck. Have there been cases of new coaches coming in from the outside and coaching a bowl like this. Seems like that would be extremely awkward ...

not too many, if any instances that I can think of. But coaching is entering a new phase. Things aren't how they used to be. We will have to be on the look out to see how many of the new coaches end up coaching their new teams during these bowl games. You know they be involved in these processes in some way.

Kelly did it when he arrived at Cincy. In fact he is the only coach to coach two different teams in two bowls in the same year (and he won both).

Scott knew Miami was looking for a head coach.  Why would his feelings be hurt that they found his new boss while he was working?

I think it would be the courteous thing to do at least. Can't be too hard to push a couple of button to make a call. To hear something through the grapevine like that is bush league.

Also, he was trying to sell a vision of the football program and the new coach may not have the same vision in mind. I think it muddles the message and shows your organization is disjointed.

Georgia gave Richt a raise in January.

3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015

ATHENS — Georgia football coach Mark Richt was given a two-year-contract extension and had his salary raised $800,000 a year by the UGA Athletic Association in a specially-called meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Richt’s previous contract, which paid him $3.2 million per year, was due to expired after the 2017 season. The new deal — which calls for a $4 million annual salary — will end after the 2019 season. No other contract details were immediately available.

Miami is giving him a lot of money.

Richt led the Dawgs to three BCS bowls, two SEC titles and six division titles. It is believed he will make about $4 million annually at Miami, which is a step up for the Canes from previous coaching salaries.

They are paying more than what they were paying before.

Al Golden

The school pays its fifth-year football coach $2,539,315, according to a USA Today report on FBS coaching salaries released this week. His pay, which does not include any potential bonuses, ranks 42nd of the 121 the newspaper was able to report and behind at least seven ACC coaches.
