He was a 5 star before the season on a few website I believe. Either way I'm pretty stoked about this commitment.

Here's what one of the Rivals guy said about him when he was a 5 star

"Salomon is a rare blend of size and speed and his acceleration is devastating. He's capable of making even the most elite defensive backs in the class appear overwhelmed."

He ran into some trouble back in 2014 that raised some eyebrows, maybe caused some programs to back up a little...

Also, a member of 247sports said something along that he didn't perform as well as one would hope at The Opening. So that might have had an effect as well.

Big pick-ups like this tend to have a domino effect with other blue-chippers.  For instance, a top QB prospect will look at us harder when he sees the quality of potential targets like Salomon.

Are his grades ok?

Hopefully we can keep his commitment! We would have been very deep if we still had Dvario Montgomery and Jarvis Baxter

I think one of the links in this thread or his thread on the recruits page had a spring or summer article mentioning that he was looking to be an early enrollee. I don't know if that's still the case.

I've seen that his gpa was hovering around a 2.8 or so. Not terrible for an athlete, but definitely not a scholar. Guy is a gym rat. I hope he takes up watching film and hitting the books a little harder though.

Being a gym rat is a great thing when you're on probation.

I used to be a big stars-guy. Not so much anymore. I guess after Swanson left the program, I stopped caring about ratings.

Spotting talent and developing talent, not to mention work ethic and character, are so important. Of course, that not to say that you could ever coach anybody into achieving 4.4 speed or excellent hands.

We are going to have one heck of an offense. This year has been amazing, and things are looking better for next year. I'm glad he saw what we have to offer. He can start game 1 here.

"He is a young and extremely gifted offensive mind, a developer of high-level talent and an elite national recruiter who brings the experience of having played an integral role from the beginning in helping to build one of the most successful programs in college football."

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
