Miami (wide right?) is the standard in-conference, and UF is the historic perennial rival they (and UF) look forward to every year. Even I'm not sure I'd want to see that rivalry ever die, it's a FL classic.Florida will always be FSU's #1 Rival with Miami being the Secondary rival. Florida-FSU has a more classic generational family rivalry where fans always know family & friends that went to either school and you have houses divided. With Miami it's not the same bc most of their fans never stepped foot on that campus. That's why USF-UCF could develop into that bc both are huge public schools so it's the same dynamic but with programs that are very young and still trying to build a tradition. You can't force natural rivalries

My generator was being paired and I had to stay with the house. Consequently, I had a can of soup and sandwich meat for Thanksgiving next to the wood stove fire. The next day I had to go to Chilies to see the game but still supported them wearing my USF gear. I was tired, hungry, pissed off over our season, etc. I could not believe my eyes when in walked four people wearing UCF gear. Just my luck I come to the one restaurant where the only four grads from UCF living in NH would eat.t. We all know how they game went. These four dicks kept looking over at me after every UCF score and USF mistake, making snide comments, and generally being a typical UCF fan. I left before the end of the game and I heard them say "bye-bye." Well, it is four years later. I have power in my home, a great turkey is planned with the family, USF is 7-4, and UCF is 0-11. To those four UCF fans, assuming you are real fans, I hope you choke on your turkey as we are rolling your ass tomorrow. Each time USF scores I will be think of you five ******** knowing that your sorry program has many years before it is relevant again. this is a fantastic post man.. I hope you have a great revenge Thanksgiving

But now, who would want to bring on UCF? Similarly to why any conference would have wanted to add USF the last couple years. We NEED this game to be big. As well as USF, we NEED UCF to be good. So I for one, will cheer for a quick UCF turn around.

I agree with ambien that this makes a good natural rivalry, but we keep getting stuck on either end of the spectrum which makes the game relatively (to the TV audience in general) a "meh" attraction. So I think I agree we need to be closer for that attraction but the green & gold in me would rather see them on fire. I can't decide.

Quite honestly, I would have preferred going into the game with both teams 11-0 or at least us where we are and UCF at 5-6 needing a win to get into a bowl. The hype and intensity for that game would be as strong as any game we ever played. For me, a rivalry is created when both teams have something on the line. We do, but still need some help from UCONN.

I want revenge for that. They are also 0-11. I'd like to be the icing on the cake that is their season. On the flip side, we can't give them the satisfaction of redeeming their pitiful season with a victory over us. This game is HUGE, Tampa. HUGE.I would like to see a beatdown of epic proportions. Hope the starters can hang 50 on them before halftime and then let everybody play. But you never can tell with in-state rivalries. They just may give us a game and we need to take them very seriously. ^^ This!
Popular Post Raetus Posted November 25, 2015 Group: Member Topic Count: 9 Content Count: 1,037 Reputation: 309 Days Won: 12 Joined: 01/31/2010 Popular Post Share Posted November 25, 2015 Growing up in a small town in Hoboken, NJ, I always dreamed of somehow escaping the cold and moving to a warn weather climate. As the son of a third generation factory worker, money wasn't exactly plentiful, so fall/winters were rather... meager around our household. We had an old UHF cabinet television in the basement that dad used to escape the doldrums of reality. At times when he was away, I'd escape to the basement and watch whatever I could find on tv. During a cold autumn evening in 1989, I caught a college football game between UCF and Bethune Cookman. I remember thinking to myself "One of these days, I'm going to apply to a school like UCF and escape this place." I spent the upcoming years working hard in school and preparing myself for a college life in sunny Florida. After graduating fifth in my high school class, I felt confident that I would be accepted into the university and my dreams would be fulfilled. Unfortunately, as I thought at the time, life had other plans for me.I sent in my application to the University of Central Florida and... well... just waited. I remember checking the mailbox every day and letting out a sigh of sadness under my breath each time the letter hadn't arrived. Until one day when I saw it... there it was... a big black and gold envelope with my name on it. I rushed inside and ripped it open and read the words that made my heart drop:"Dear Applicant,Sorry, we done put all da applicants in a box labeled 'Dont Tuoch!1!' but then we forgot y we culdnt tuhch dem and recycled dem so we had $$ 4 beer. We care bout recycle nd u shuld 2! We r sorry if dis messes up ur college plans. We gunna take a year off dis acadamciscs thing. Try again nex year!.Kisses,UCF"I was crushed. My dreams of sunny Florida had been shattered. I walked to the kitchen on that sad day in '05 and that's when something caught my eye. A headline for the newspaper that day read 'College Upstart South Florida Eviscerates Central Florida 31 - 14'. "South Florida?", I thought, "I wonder what they're about." And I began to research... Without a football team, I hadn't heard of them in my earlier years, but it seems that all had changed. Not only did they have a football team, but it seemed they were really good as well! The academics seemed great too! I hurriedly gave them a call and asked them to send some information if they were still accepting applicants. Not only did they overnight some information to me, but it was in English and was completely legible! From the use of syntax to the lack of crayon usage, it was evident that the University of South Florida was a much different university than the University of Central Florida. From there, the rest was history. I was accepted into USF. Graduated magna cum laude. And went on to cure cancer as an astronaut while fighting ISIS from the moon. This game, to me, is the embodiment of the fulfillment of the hopes and dreams of a young boy from Hoboken who almost saw his dreams crushed by the horrible UCF. A win would validate everything good that has happened in my life. That is what the USF-UCF game means to me.----Orrrrrrrrr I just don't like UCF, that was all a lie, the game is just another win for us and I enjoy seeing them sad, but the thread topic seemed so dramatic that I thought it required a more dramatic story. Just choose whichever one works better for you.

Yes I hold a grudge.
