Gotta win this game!  I hope everyone is focused because Cincy can score.

D is going to have to really play well if we are to beat cincy. Offense will need to repeat their performance and put up points as this might turn into a slugfest.

Agree, I like being underestimated. Wonder how many sports predictors pick us this week?

THE LINE IS NOT A PREDICTION

Both teams are 6-4 and Cincy has been much more consistent over the past 4-5 years. We are going to have to win more games against better teams consistently to get people's respect. Temple was an amazing win, but it was the first real win for us against better competition this year. Cincy has lost to good teams (Temple, Memphis, BYU and Houston). The line should close a little and this game should be a coin flip. I don't think this is a big deal or disrespect or anything. A 3 point favorite is nothing. It's not like we're some big underdog that's going to play with a chip on our shoulder because Cincy is a 3 point favorite.

Good points...because 3-points does mean 'flip a coin'. I am looking forward to this game...back to back 'better' competition.

This is the thing that hits a nerve? Ya know, if you guys could just get people to stop choosing to spend their money based on these odds, and could also please get sportscasters to stop dialogue based around them, it would look a whole lot less like a prediction.

Unless the sportscasters are the ones declaring a Cincy win by 3, they are simply commenting on whether or not USF is going to cover the odds makers betting line. Once again for the cheap seats... when a line is set, it is a betting line. It is determined based on what the odds makers believe is the appropriate line to garner equal amounts of action on both sides. When the line moves, it isn't because they've had a change of heart and believe USF is going to do better or worse. It is entirely dependent on how much action is being wagered. If more people are betting on USF, then the line moves to get more money on Cincy. Odds makers want equal money on both teams so they come out on top.

But in setting that initial line, they are reflecting their own opinions of the two teams, right? They're not reading the minds of millions of bettors ....

Correct. But most sports books would say that the people they hire's job is to read the casual/common better's minds and where the money will fall based on a particular line set.
