I am not familiar with the action you reference? Have we banned students from consuming products containing trans fat on our campus?

You can't have Moffitt spending millions on research geared toward helping people to quit smoking while USF still endorses smoking on campus -- it's dumb. No one is stopping you from smoking; they're just adding USF to growing list of places where you can't do it. Florida has plenty of dive bars and cesspools where you're more than welcome to light up. If you're going to smoke, at least smoke something that smells decent like weed or hookah as mentioned above.

I've got no problem with smoking in respective forms (although its not my cup of tea personally), but cigarettes are crazy trashy.

does this include hookah, because that was how I met most of my friends and made it through finals at USF. Really sad if it does.

Yes... everything including e cigs (hell e cigs are worse than most regular cigs)

Should we also ban hamburgers? Bacon? Milkshakes? I think it is a pretty slippery slope when we say "overwhelming research demonstrates this is not a rational decision for you to make and thus we will ban it." That is certainly more or less the opposite of what I hope higher learning aims to achieve. Certainly stringently enforce smoking outside of designated areas (to alleviate impact to others) and offer open access to information and programs to discourage smoking. But (IMHO) this type of policy is much akin to Willie's view on Ybor City!

Not advocating for one position or another, but there is a clear difference between banning smoking vs. unhealthy food in a given area. Unlike secondhand smoke, someone eating a hamburger in another person's vicinity doesn't have an adverse impact on the bystander's health.

Unless that hamburger gives the person bad gas, and then we all suffer.  :roflmao:

That is a good policy. Kudos USF.

I agree with your comment about this being ridiculous.  Can't believe it took this long.  That's ridiculous.

+1...great idea.
