Will 6-6 really be enough for a bowl?

While I agree it's a stretch... the playoff committee has said that it's not who beat you, but who you beat.  USF at 9-4 with two wins over Top 25 teams could easily get the nod over an 11-2 Western Michigan team with no wins over Top 25 teams.

You make a good point, it's the highest ranked team by the CFP committee.  Obviously, they can adjust their rankings

I agree with you.  But getting in over a 2 loss Boise or 2 loss WKU is probably not going to happen unless we get help (such as them losing another game or losing their championship game).

Again, you don't need a championship game to have a champion.  UCF was the AAC Champion.  If Memphis was ranked higher than Boise State, bur UCF was ranked lower, then Boise State would still go.  Georgia Southern was the Sunbelt Champion last year.

I thought there were Co-Champions in the AAC last year, like TCU and Baylor and that Memphis was ranked higher than UCF

2 years ago, UCF got in because AAC had an auto bid to a BCS bowl.

Last year, AAC had 3 tri-champs, so CFP committee could have selected either of them, depending on who was rated higher.  This year it will go to the winner of the AAC championship game.

Just for my obtuseness in this scenario:

Houston finishes the regular season at 11-1 with their only loss (score 28-27) coming to USF in the CCG

USF finishes the season 9-4 winning the AAC CCG

CFP Committee has Houston ranked at #10 and USF ranked #38

The committee would pick USF to represent the G5 in the Access Bowl.

Yes or No (assume no other G5 conference has a team ranked higher than USF)

Yes. Houston would be ineligible due to losing conf championship.

Would we be ranked if we win out? (not counting the Bowl game)

Correct. What BullsFanInTX said.  Plus if USF beats Houston, the Cougers would not be ranked #10, and if USF wins out, we will not be #38.  It would probably be more like #24 and #30.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
