This would hurt recruiting so much because the players wouldn't know who they are going to play for

How is that? he would still have a full yr left on his contract when he gets the extension. There wouldn't be a lame duck season.

Isnt it funny we are having this thread after a loss to Navy whom we played with a handicap and still almost won.  Obviously Flowers and Mack were not themselves.  Flowers would have run all over that defense. He said he was 80% I am thinking more like 55%.  THat contusion severely hampered his game and out outcome.

1 year for sure if he only does 5-7, 6-6 (without a bowl) or 6-7.

2 years if he goes 7-6

Fire him if we can't get to 5 this year, or even 5-7 depending on why we lose 3 of the next 4.

We did this with CSH. We said he MIGHT be good later and we signed the ext.

I am not in favor of extending until we are SURE he is the man to lead the program long term and we are not pinning our hopes on divine intervention.

I think Tom Allen is our next head coach if Taggart doesn't get us bowling this year and next year too. And he is going to be out there recruiting and can tell the recruits he's next if Taggart is let go.

Contract extension means absolutely nothing in the big picture unless you're of the mind that giving a mediocre coach a few more years is a good idea...

Why was he still in the game vs. SMU to get hurt? Unacceptable at that point.
