Any suggestions for which lot to try?

Also, what is the reception for visiting fans?

I always go to Lot 14, the IM fields. It'll have a good tailgating crowd, but I can't really remember how often visiting fans go there. I'm not quite sure where I'll be at this year, though as it will be my first time tailgating not with FSU fans/students.

As for the fans, I always have had a good encounter with them. 2009 went well, had several good conversations and everyone was pretty friendly. I also went in 2011 with a few UM fans, and the reception was a bit more negative, but outside of a few verbal jabs, the fans where pretty good. Those are the only two times I've been supporting the opponent, but generally the fans always seem pretty respectful.

I go several times a year now to visit friends and to go to the big games, and game day in Tally is definitely the most fun I've been to (probably helps that it was during two undefeated seasons).

Their fans were cool.  After we beat them in 2009, they were ready to run Bowden out of town (and eventually did).
