@slmandel: George O'Leary's program has had a major NCAA infractions case & a wrongful death case. Sure, why not make him interim AD?

Well, I am  low carb guy. If it has formerly moved under it's own power (meat,fish,chicken), its for me. 56 yrs old,5' 11" 175 lbs, still walk two miles a day ( 35 years of running took its toll on the knees) swim 3-4  thousand yards per day. I'm pretty healthy God willing.

You're right. In Japan, they do it in high school for baseball.

And you're always bringing up this romanticized notion of college football when you've never seen a single down in your entire life where the game was just a game. Let it go. The haves and have nots have been going at it since the 19th century when Yale was already charging it's students a fee to pay for football.

 

 

 

Actually I've read about. The Sarasota papers are archived on Google Newspapers. I've read of the high school football exploits of my father and his brother in the 30s and 40s, all conference, team captain, etc.. The local rivalries and scores have bigger headlines than the college games. The bowl games started after WWII, and for decades the NCAA didn't want to recognize or promote them so they did their end of year final rankings before any were played. So its something you can actually see as its covered in newspapers that it wasn't always like it is now. When there were items on college schedules, the schools in the south pretty much stayed in the south. They didn't play for ratings or rankings. You don't have to go back to the 1800s, more than half the 1900s wasn't moneytized.
