  2. Excellent and well deserved at-large bid for the men's soccer team into the field of only 48 in the NCAA Tournament. A very favorable road is ahead of them, as we draw Louisville, who they beat 2-0 earlier this year in Tampa in Round 1. Win there and then #14 overall seed UC Davis awaits in the second round. They could pull off some upsets and make some noise in this one. They aren't good enough to win it all, but they could get to the Sweet 16.
  3. TAMPA (Nov. 5, 2019) – Adrian Billhardt (Berlin, Germany) scored two goals, and Trey Jackson (Ocala, Fla.) tallied one goal, as the University of South Florida men's soccer team handed Memphis a 3-1 loss in the regular season finale for both schools on Tuesday night in Memphis. The Bulls improve to 10-5-1* overall and 4-3-1* in the American Athletic Conference, while the Tigers are 10-6 on the year and 4-3 in The American. The win catapults the Bulls into the third seed and a position to host a first-round match in the upcoming American Athletic Conference Tournament. USF will face the No. 6 seed, UConn on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The Huskies (5-11-1, 2-5-0) clinched the final spot in the championship field on Tuesday, downing Tulsa 6-3. The winner of the USF-UConn match will face SMU on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 4:30 p.m. at UCF in Orlando. Read on

Way to bounce back after dropping a close one vs #1 Maryland
  5. USF Mens Soccer hasn't had a .500 or below season since 2002-03. Since Butehorn took over for Kiefer not only have we now had a .500 season (6-6-4 last year) we now have a losing season (7-8-2) after being knocked out of the conference tourney in the QUARTERFINALS.....there will be no NCAA tourney date just as there wasn't one last year even though the team had gone to the tourney 8 out of the last 9 years before CBB showed up. I'm not going to go as far as to say Butehorn is the Skippy version of soccer, but holy cow, if we are a soccer school as folks like to say on this board, how long does this go on? Imagine, if you will, CCS had gone 6-6 last year and had not gotten to a bowl like some other 6-6 teams last year and then went 5-7 this year? The board would be in complete meltdown mode.
  6. Ben Sweat, a men's soccer alum, has been called up to the US Men's National Team for the first time.
  7. The men's soccer team plays University of Tampa each year in a preseason exhibition that has been dubbed the Rowdies Cup. While the clubs are in different divisions, the rivalry always leads to an entertaining and competitive match. This year's match is on 8/18 at 7:30PM at UT. The new twist on the event is an alumni match that will be played prior to the exhibition. Alumni from both teams have been invited to play a game at 5:30PM. There's been some transfers to/from UT in years past. What school would those alumni suit up for? If you've found yourself among the soccer curious after the World Cup, the Rowdies Cup is a great local event to attend. Both teams should push throughout the match and you can expect fans from both sides to show up with their best chants.
  8. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/high-schools/2018/08/16/jim-harte-resigns-as-boys-soccer-coach-at-carrollwood-day/ On Wednesday, CDS announced that Kelvin Jones will take over for Harte. Jones is director of soccer for Tampa Bay United club program. Jones has previously coached high school programs at IMG Academy, Plant and Chamberlain. He played college soccer at USF.
  9. Men's soccer's uniforms were revealed earlier today and women's soccer announced their uniforms last week. I had high hopes for the men's kits after seeing how well they came together for the women. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I feel Adidas dropped the ball for the men's team. The women's kits clearly received more thought than the generic look given to the men. I wonder what sparked the difference between the two sets of uniforms.
  10. Thought I would let you know since you may be killing time, waiting for Fall pracitce. The site's official gallery, BullsGallery.com, has been around for more than a decade, but has always floated out there mostly in obscurity. We will be bringing it in house to TheBullsPen.com. 2017 is transferred in, but quality control has to be done still, you can see the pics with this direct link to the 2017 galleries. Many more years to follow. Now it should be seamless to comment on an image, embed in post, share it across the site and social networks. Also, 2018 full galleries will be hosted here. As I move seasons over, they will be deleted from the BullsGallery.com domain. It will probably take a couple months to complete as I believe there are 13-14 thousand pictures.
  11. http://gousfbulls.com/news/2018/1/17/mens-soccer-announces-spring-schedule.aspx The men's soccer team will play a few MLS clubs and the Rowdies over the next couple months. The annual match against the Rowdies is always enjoyable with fans from both sides showing up to cheer together. Our match against the Union is intriguing because of a former USF player on their squad and two Union Academy alumni on the current USF roster. The schedule (some details still TBD): 1/27 10:30AM - New York Red Bulls @ Oldsmar Sports Complex 2/3 5PM - Chicago Fire @ Corbett Stadium 2/7 TBD - Philadelphia Union @ Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex 3/9 TBD - Tampa Bay Rowdies @ TBD

Jeremy Hurdle, Michael Alcaraz and Ryan Thompson have joined the Bulls’ staff. “I am very proud of the staff that we have brought together,” said Butehorn. “I believe we assembled the right people for the job and I look forward to a very bright future for our program.” Hurdle will act as the Bulls’ Director of Soccer of Operations and Alcaraz is the Assistant Director of Operations. As a player, Hurdle was a four-year starter at McGill University. His performance earned him a Canadian Silver Medal in 2009 and the Quebec Silver Medal in 2009 and 2011, as well as a one-time conference all-star recognition. Prior to his time at McGill, Hurdle captained a team for the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and won a championship title at the 2011 NZ University Games. Hurdle graduated from McGill in 2012 with a degree in geography. Alcarez comes to USF after one season as the head coach for Burbank Unified School District. The former defender graduated from Manhattan College in 2015 as a two-year starter. Thompson has been a notable goalkeeper coach that has worked with institutions throughout the East Coast including Carlow University and the University of Tampa. A former goalkeeper for the University of Tampa, Thompson was a two-time All-American and led the Spartans to a Division II Final Four appearance. Thompson led the Jamaican Football Federation to two Caribbean Cup Championships in 2005 and 2015, and a Gold Cup silver medal in 2015. The Butehorn era of USF men’s soccer will begin in August 2017.

  20. For those that haven't been following, the USF Men's Soccer team has been on fire as of late and won the regular season AAC Championship. The reward is hosting the conference championship tournament that starts tonight at Corbett Stadium. The first semi is between UCONN and Tulsa at 4:30 with USF v. UCF following at around 7 pm or so (depending on how long the first game takes). It should be a lovely night weather wise, so if you are in the mood, head on down and support the most successful men's sports program over the last 5 years. Tickets are a steal at only $5 and, I believe, covers admission to both games. When USF wins tonight, they will host the championship game Sunday at noon that will be aired on ESPN U. http://www.ticketmaster.com/2016-aac-mens-soccer-semifinals-tampa-florida-11-11-2016/event/0D0051678DBC76FF?DB_OEM_ID=7700&artistid=1385510&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=11&tm_link=artist_msg-0_0D0051678DBC76FF
  21. Funny over last four years or so, this time of year we spent a lot of time talking about sports other than football. This year, it's been almost all football. I'm sure some of you saw this: But maybe some didn't....
  22. I know we're all still in crummy moods from the FSU game but c'mon fellas, there are other sports and a win over that School to the East (and 6 points in the War for I-4 if your into that) is always a mood brightener!!!!
