Guangdong won 3-0 in the best-of-five series of the first round playoffs to reach the semi-finals. Zhu Fangyu had 18 points and eight rebounds for Guangdong, while Joshua Powell finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, and Wang Shipeng added nine points and seven assists. Shanghai's Quincy Douby grabbed a team-high 31 points, and veteran Liu Wei finished with 17 points. This is the 11th time that Guangdong progress through the first round of CBA playoffs, and the defending champions will fight against the winners between Beijing Ducks and Zhejiang Guangsha in the coming semi-finals.
