  1. Good TD. Was beginning to wonder if I picked the wrong game to reengage. Been keeping track of progress, but first time sitting back down.
  2. I said it yesterday and this reinforced it, he's articulate, humble, and seems to have a solid work ethic. I'm a fan of the servant leadership style and I see a lot of that in him, I expect he's going to bust his ass for the team. While I would have preferred more proven, he's our guy so at this point I'm really curious to see what he can do -- so move me into the intrigued column. He's got his work cut out for him, and will need to get some sleep, but today felt like a win and a solid intro. Really curious about the DC hire, that's critical. Depending on that, we'll see if I shift further to cautious optimism. Won't get too excited until we get some Ws on the board and this team feels fun again, but I'll take it for today.
  3. Really well spoken, I can see how he would have nailed an interview. If he has the hustle he's talking about, will be a good starting place. So much work to do, so much to prove.
  4. Sake and wine for me. At this point moving to acceptance because there is no choice unless I walk. Not the risk I wanted to take with an unknown HC talent, but young and hungry I guess is what we get this round. I'll hear what he has to say, he seems like a smart guy ... but he has to win. The first place to win is with preventing an exodus of transfers and getting recruits. I hope he hits the ground tomorrow. Can he sell the future of this program like CJL once did? Can he turn a vision into results? I like the art of coaching philosophy, but we need the science of winning. If he knows O like his resume says, what has happened at T, and can do that here, I'll look forward to some fun... D is a real worry so I hope he gets coaches and talent on that side of the ball. New day, new coach, and I hope the worst is behind us and we get something to go on in the weeks and months to come. As someone else said, its rough to just go on hope and faith in the admin at this point.
  5. Ok, thanks for the reset. I appreciate that. Yes, its a small feed and I try not to spend much time there either. I really do want the team and school to succeed. My OSU buddy was much more interested in this hire as well, so no its not all negative. But man its been a rough few years.
  6. I appreciate that, because it really doesn't feel that way at the moment.
  7. Really. I was agreeing with a lot of what you had to say, now you are just being a jackass.
  8. Larger fanbase perhaps? This isn't trending well here or in the twitterverse after that s-show of a hiring hype. Sure doesn't feel like the splash hire we hoped for, and many here still wanted a chance for CJL to come back before it came to this. For the record, I wasn't a huge fan of Chadwell either. I don't really f-ing matter to USF as a fan except for TV ratings, so my confidence doesn't matter other than being an older member of a dwindling fanbase. I left Tampa >25 years ago never to return, have never seen a game in person, and don't donate much. But for a long time I watched every single game and I had a hell of a lot of fun during the CJL years, streaming before it was a thing. Haven't had much fun since. It is the ONLY football I've watched in the last couple decades, don't care for any other teams, so I'm really only a USF fan, not a football fan. I pay attention to what's going on, but my post count shows I don't live and die by football. I often say, USF did not have football when I attended and I did not care then... has not had much of a team in recent years .. but here I am still, waiting to see if we can get some of that excitement back. If he succeeds, great. I hope he does. Am a confident, no. I'll watch the first game next season and get a sense on how much to reengage on USF.
  9. This thought has crossed my mind as well.
  10. Nope, but a proven track record at a lower level would help with confidence. I've coached up junior hires that were home runs, and had experienced ones fall really flat. This guy is just a real unknown, and this program really needs -something- to grasp on.
  11. There are times you go with young and hungry, and there are times you go with experience ... and when you really need the latter you worry about Peter Principle when all you get is the the former. Was this really all we could get? This is truly a restart from 0, will be a lot of transfers out of what little we had left. Seems a lot to put on someone with no HC experience. I don't envy CAG, this is a hell if a hill to climb (on a burial ground) and the natives are restless.
  12. This is where the program is I guess. I checked out during Scott years, so don't see much change on the horizon.
  13. Hemorrhoids more exciting. Really, what have they been doing the last month? At this point probably just look forward to coming back in 3 years for the next HC hunt.
  14. The more I think about it, the more I'd like to see him back in some capacity, perhaps not the head coach. It would be cathartic for the program and help put the past behind. We really need some advocacy, someone who can sell the heart of what USF football could be. At it's core, that's what CJL could do and what made the program so exciting back then. Have we had anyone with that visionary approach for the program since he left and Lee Roy Selmon died?
  15. Not against the idea, the program has never been the same (or as fun) since his dismissal ... but how many years do we think he has left in the tank? He was still in his early 50s when the poop went down. Given our coaching carousel it might not matter, I'd be happy for a string of a few good (or at least entertaining) years. Would be interesting if nothing else.
  16. Whelp, glad we did what needed to be done sooner than later. We can start the search for new while the pool is larger. Hope the darkest days of the program are behind us.
  17. I've gone from watching every Saturday ... to coming here once a week to check if I made the right decision to skip the game. So far, seems to be paying off. Gained a lot of hours elsewhere while eliminating a lot of aggravation. Hope for better days for our team, but have better things to do with my time. Really miss the days of being an up-and-coming team when it was exciting and fun, win some lose some.
  18. This is why I was annoyed and scratching my head in January, maybe he would have gone into this season more hungry for change and improvement. That lock will make it much more costly to give him the boot.
  19. I wore mine today, to do yardwork. All my USF gear is now in the "OK to get messed up" category. Rep my kid's college more often with the "Dad" gear... they may be terrible at football too but he doesn't care.
