  1. I think that was the only play BYU could run and NOT score. Anything up the middle and they walk in
  2. If you don’t like what you see watching the ball, don’t watch the DL. I’ve seen better HS units in the Bay Area, and I’m not even exaggerating
  3. It’s kinda funny how getting a first down is almost like scoring a TD. We’re praying so hard we can get 10 yards
  4. I don’t know if CJS is the main issue here, but I do know this is one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen Don the USF colors
  5. We’ve ran the that play twice in the red zone. Having the QB roll away from his throwing arm is just....questionable at best
  6. Not sure I understand the philosophy on continuously wasting your most explosive receiving weapons on fake jet sweeps (Latrel + Dollison)
  7. 45-0 and we run a jet sweep....for a loss of 4. This is the definition of being too cute
  8. Let’s say he has a full grasp of the offense, what has he done outside of a couple of heaves to weaver to clearly outplay anyone? He has played poor. Again, that’s ok! He’s young. But even the deep balls were poorly thrown, and dont outweigh the absolutely horrific decisions on the turnovers.
  9. I agree. I was hoping for Jarren to get a shot if you’re going to pull Fortin. I don’t mind using McClain, but give Jarren a shot. At some point, you’re going to have to find some sort of passing offense.
  10. It’s incredible how soft our team is on a consistent basis. When was the last time we had a truly physical skill player? McCants? Outside of that?
  11. He’s absolutely an athlete. Again, I’m not saying the kids future is doomed over 2 quarters. But there’s no way he has a full grasp of the offense given how many guys were given snaps this offseason, especially the last 2 weeks.
  12. The offensive scheme is ok, but the playcalling looks a lot like a 28 year old playing madden
  13. I didn’t say he won’t be able to throw for his entire career. However it’s clear he’s woefully unprepared to be running anything more than a limited package of plays. Completely understandable why, he’s 3rd on the depth chart. Which makes it that much more confusing why you continue to roll with him
  14. The kid that can’t throw? Down by 30? Ok lol. He’s had 2 lucky jump balls to X. I understand our standards are low, but come on. Just because they got a couple of first downs by giving a completely different look doesn’t mean he should be in the game
  15. NC state has ran the ball over the LT about 20 times tonight. Same play, over and over
  16. Having McClain in this game is just as dumb as how they handled Marsh last year. CJS has sorely mismanaged the QB position
  17. Allow me to speak a little optimism into this thread. I will also preface this with of course we need to see more consistency out of these guys, that goes without saying when discussing a roster that was this bad last year. But here are some of the guys that are being slightly undervalued. QB: I’ve been on the Cade Fortin bandwagon since he transferred in. Going back and watching his UNC film, you can see why Jimbo liked this kid. I don’t think he has the ceiling to be a QF level impact player for us, but I do think he can be better than Barnett and others that have followed. This alone would be a massive improvement. The QB play we got for a majority of last year wasn’t acceptable. I appreciate J Mac and Noah as ambassadors, but for a large part that was FCS level QB play at best. Upgrading even to average D1 QB play would massively raise the ceiling for this team. WR: I genuinely think theres a decent amount of talent in this unit. It’s hard to really judge a lot of these guys based on last year with the QB play. Latrell Williams is a legit talent. Elite speed, and showed flashes last year. With better QB play, I expect Latrell to become the primary playmaker in this unit. Ideally, he would probably be a #2 on a contending AAC roster, but the talent is legit and he fits the speed profile that has helped us in the past (MVS/Rodney/etc). Omarion Dollison: Again, we saw the flashes last year. Juiced up slot WR who can be dangerous in space. Paired with Latrell, there’s at least a really nice speed element already with both on the field. Expect them to find ways to get OD the ball 5 times a game minimum. Yusuf Terry: Transfer from Baylor. Went back and watched some film on him from last year...not a ton of reps available and their QB play wasn’t great either, but this kid is a legit D1 WR at minimum. Played meaningful snaps at Baylor as a freshman, made some nice plays on the ball and apparently their staff was very high on his future. Good size/speed combo. Route running was meh, but can absolutely be a zone beater and red zone threat. At a minimum, Between Terry and Xavier Weaver, we should have a solid 2nd boundary option to compliment Latrell. X Factor: Jimmy Horn Jr: Keeping on the speed thread, this kid can absolutely fly. Only a freshman so hard to expect too much from a production standpoint, but the staff loves him so expect to see him getting ST and specialized offensive reps. 2021 Depth Chart Prediction: X: Latrell Williams Y: Omarion Dollison / Bryce Miller Z: Xavier Weaver / Yusuf Terry
  18. Overhaul the defensive identity. I’ve seen enough of the 3-3-5 base between Strong and Spencer. Tired of having 3 defensive tackles on the field who have zero pass rush ability. Find me someone who can develop our traditionally undersized (but quick) edge players/LB’s. We need a defensive system that allows those guys to shoot gaps and create negative plays
  19. I believe he was recovering from a concussion early in the year
  20. Fortin can spin it. Not giving CWJ a pass by any means, but it has to be difficult to put together a game plan with this offense. First and foremost, we (kinda) have 3 QB’s who all have different skill sets. Neither McCloud nor Johnson can stretch the field vertically, allowing defenses to bring extra guys down. Pair that with undersized RB’s behind a finesse (being nice) OL unit and you see the result. I’ve been preaching the start Fortin chorus all year, not only because I think he’s far and away the best QB on the roster, but if you watch his UNC film you’ll see he can throw the deep ball. Simply threatening teams to respect the deep ball would help our running game immensely. Without the vertical threat, we’re feeding 170lb RB’s to 250lb LBs and hoping to have success. You’re relying on a lot of window dressing and misdirection to hopefully create some type of run game. Well, that’s not working. In the pass game, we’re seeing a lot of tight windows because defenders aren’t afraid to get beat deep. They’re willing to be play tight zones and keep guys inside to take away the short throws. Combine that with the velocity and accuracy issues of JM and NJ, and that’s not going to lead to very much success either That’s what we’re seeing
  21. 1st down: run 2nd down: run 3rd down: incomplete pass on a broken play Charlie Weis Jr. is calling a horrific game
  22. Tulsa legitimately has one of the best run defenses in the country. And our game plan has been to run the ball. Confusing
  23. 1. Lose big 2. Lose small 3. Win small 4. Win big Pretty clear where we are at currently
