  1. This entire idea that coaching in Florida brings easy talent is a fallacy that’s proven not to be the case. Yeah....Florida is a hot bed. You know that...I know that...so does every single school in the Country. It doesn’t make the Head Coach position at USF easy. We have sucked for a long time with several different coaches. UF, FSU, Miami and all of the smaller programs in this state have up and down periods. This program, USF, needs a guy that knows the Bay Area inside and out. Period. Jim Leavitt was and is a master recruiter that BUILT THIS PROGRAM...literally from nothing. To write him off as some mediocre coach is just ignorant.
  2. OK...we will wait for your suggestion for the hire. You think there are ace top flight prospects that are beating down our doors? There are loads of guys that are going to bring us conference championships?
  3. He built a program, made it nationally relevant and put guys in the NFL immediately. I’ll admit, I was one of the people at the time that was starting to think that Leavitt took us as far as he could and maybe we needed someone else to get us to the next level....not unlike the Dungy/Gruden situation. That said...hindsight is 20/20 and it was a mistake to get rid of him. Hands down. He is a legend here and he’s accomplished a lot since he’s left. I believe he will be better than ever this time and he will assemble a top notch staff. I don’t think there is another choice to make right now. If he will take the job it has to be his.
  4. This was the worst of them all. I’ll never forget this quote....how could he have not watched it, much less admit to not watching it.
  5. I can’t get on board with Lane Kiffen. It doesn’t feel right to me.
  6. I do not want Taggart. Not at all. If he comes back here it can only be in one capacity....as a member of Coach Leavitt’s staff. Never as a head coach here again.
  7. I’d like to see Shaun King stay with the program. It would be a mistake to let him go. He will fit in well on Leavitt’s staff!
  8. I hope you’re right. The more I allow myself to think this could happen, the more I like it. Look at the places he’s been since he’s left here. He’s gotten a lot of great experience. He’s made a ton of connections and he knows the Bay Area as well or better than anyone. MAKE IT HAPPEN USF!!
  9. This is the first time I’m starting to feel some real momentum and legitimacy to the possibility of him coming back. I would love to see the decision makers and influencers (donors) get together and truly discuss this as a legitimate scenario. The other question is...does anyone know Leavitt and would he consider it?
  10. I LOVE THIS! Anything helps at this point. Kelly should have a meeting with these guys.
  11. I understand that too and he is older, but he almost seems like a Monte Kiffen type. I think he eats, breathes and sleeps football. That and he seems so have a ton of connections, I think he’d assemble a top flight staff. I’m generally the kind of guy that says “you can’t go home again”....but man....Coach Leavitt was and is all passion. He doesn’t seem to have lost an ounce of passion and work ethic.
  12. How do you feel about it? You seem to be pretty connected to the program.
  13. I was at a UF/FSU watch party last night. Was chatting with one of the players from the original/inaugural Bulls team and the topic of Leavitt came up. He said he absolutely loved playing for Leavitt and that he fully believed that even after all this time Leavitt would come back and do great here. It’s hard to imagine....but I’m starting to actually think about it. Why not? The verbiage says “he can’t apply”...it doesn’t say “he can’t accept an offer”. All I know is that in hindsight, the day Leavitt left, he took the soul of the program with him. We need to get some of the original guys back here in some capacity. Those original Bulls teams had that “it” factor. I like the fact that Grothe and QF are apparently expressing some interest. There was a buzz and excitement around the program that’s been missing for a LONG, LONG time. I understand the “get new blood” mentality, but I also like the idea of injecting some excitement and pride back in the program from the guys that put us on the map.
  14. Count me in as a “die hard” that’s out if Strong remains. This program is an embarrassment and I won’t watch one minute next year if this guy comes back.
  15. I wouldn’t consider KB part of his “coaching tree”. They didn’t come up together.
  16. I have no idea what this means. I guess I’m too old to decipher it. Love Grothe and Q, but have no idea what they are saying.
  17. This next hire will be the make or break for this program. It is truly sad how far we’ve fallen. We are less relevant than AskJeeves.com...remember that?? ** I was trying to think of something that was relevant back when I was in school. That’s how effing long it’s been since USF mattered to anyone other than the 25-30 people who post up on this board every week. USF Football has become the epitome of wasted potential and momentum. **** it makes me sick.
  18. This program is getting exactly what it deserves. Zero support. It is a disgrace. At one point we were exciting and had the whole world in front of us. We are a f**cking shadow of our former selves. I’m embarrassed....and I’m starting not to care. I graduated 2001...4 years in to the program. The honeymoon is over. USF Administration....wake the F up and do something. We are 1/2 step away from complete irrelevance. I’m disgusted.
  19. There is less than a 0% chance of either of these things happening.
  20. I’m not sure what was wrong with this for Academics.
  21. Marlon is having a great game and Al has made mention of it many times. You can tell he’s a fan. It is so much fun watching him run, he is a beast!
  22. I think you misunderstood my post...my point was UCF is on an uptick and USF is becoming less relevant by the day.
