  1. So this guy is in and out before the first game?
  2. Was just about to come here and post this. Good for him. The guy seems to know what he's doing and wins every place but here.
  3. Exhibits A and B why I'm not the guy to ask.
  4. @JoeB@olafberserkerThose guys know more of our team. I played in college and I coached at Palm Beach Gardens and Stoneman Douglas (name drop coming) and was there when Anthony Rizzo was a pup, but my game and the game today are different. When I was in school my sophomore year, we were using 2 3/4 bats and -5 (if you want to know what our bats were like, watch a YouTube with the Bat Bros when they break out 90s bats and wha that looks like ), that was the year the CWS final was 21-10 and people were like, "uh... maybe offense is a little too much." Pre-BBCOR, the whole deal. I know baseball, but I am NOT the guy to look for for baseball insight.
  5. Honestly, I haven't even looked at who all is coming and going, but there are people on here who follow baseball far more than I do and can answer that.
  6. Baseball isn't football or basketball. You're not drafting guys on stats or who they played against. If anyone cared about that, they wouldn't be taking HS kids in the first round. If you can watch a 17 year old take BP and light up high school competition, you can do the same watching Cantu take BP at our field and play against AAC opponents. He's three years deep into his college career, he's not showing scouts anything they haven't seen playing for us or for FSU next year. He'd play 50+ games for us next year, but he'll play them for someone else. Results would be the same. If he rakes for FSU next year or rakes for us, his draft possibilities don't change. Whatever kept him from being drafted this year will or won't shake out next year, it won't be because of being in the ACC. Here's 17th round draft pick from Rhode Island and Cantu. .316avg 8hrs 1.028OPS .302avg 11hrs .956OPS Marginal difference and one did it in a lesser conference and got drafted.
  7. He has no better chance of being drafted at FSU than he did for us. It is what it is. I don't blame him at all for the move, but it isn't to help his draft stock. He's either going to a) win more or b) win just as much, but do it in a much nicer clubhouse and with way more free **** to wear.
  8. Not sure if anyone saw or posted this before, but... They've been dumped from SB Nation and no longer exist as a site.
  9. No players drafted... no recruits drafted... abysmal record... Any one of these is out of the norm. All three at once is unparalleled in USF baseball history.
  10. No Bulls taken in the draft. First time that's happened since 1999 and only the second time since 1981.
  11. Four pitchers. But, we got Snow and he was far and away our most highly regarded recruit. No idea how or why he didn't get drafted and signed, but clubs know the number it will take to get a kid and Snow could have had a number in mind he wasn't going to sign for less than. Not going to complain, he was everything scouts said he could be for us this year. Wouldn't surprise me if we lose Logan Bevis today. 6'6" and throws mid-90s. He's the kind of kid someone picks in the 15th round, looks at how much money they have left in their draft $$$ pool and says, "Would $400k be enough to get you out of your college commitment?"
  12. College baseball is weird. Recruit a guy who's too good and you never see him.
  13. Through 10 rounds... no Brutcher or Cantu and not a single recruit drafted. After round 10, there are no dollars attached to a draft slot.
  14. Definitely can't speak for all of the leagues, and there are a ton more these days, but those three are host families. Cape Cod is generally considered the premier college wood bat league.
  15. Summer League is wood bat summer ball for college players. Cape Cod, Alaska, Northwoods... those are all summer collegiate leagues.
  16. He's from the Villages? Are his parents 80?
  17. Lots of USF love while I was drinking far too much and playing with explosives here.
  18. Wait a minute... are you not a fan of VPMK?
  19. I mean... maybe not a bad idea to take a couple months off. Check out until the end of the first game. Get some new material. Recharge the batteries. Just a thought.
  20. I think he's perfected the tear down and tank better than anything I've ever seen. He ended up with something like 5-6 first rounders on top of the team's regular picks between 2022-2024. Holy ****. I'm just breezing over his trade portfolio. He's either going to be the Chicago hockey messiah or be toast by 38. Go big or go home. 3 first rounders and 2 second last year. 2 first rounders and 4 second this year.
  21. Since the Lightning don't have a pick until 2032, I wasn't too into the draft. But, I'm a Chicago fan first (well, after pushing 20 years in Tampa, I'm migrating to the local teams) and came across this peeking at some draft stuff. Blackhawks GM was walking around town in the afternoon and saw a radio show interviewing people... said he had to stand in line behind two Blackhawks fans in jerseys who also didn't recognize him that were interviewed first. "Kyle from Chicago" just did in 2 minutes what teams spend millions of $$$ for and months of research to get this kind of publicity.
  22. The internet didn't exist when he was hired. Hype hadn't been invented yet.
  23. I think 7 is fair. I like him. I like everything he's done to this point. You can't be higher than that without a game played.
