  1. Firstly, even if you factor in that there are 5 conferences plus ND, that's six out of eleven. Last I checked that's a majority. We're suddenly outnumbered and it's going to go the way of the House of Representatives-the minority will never have a shot at anything. As for barnacles on the Queen Mary. Consider that even if we're barnacles, we don't match up to the first class passengers who will have five to ten times our revenue. We can fight all we like-it's going to take a hell of a lot more to make us big than just winning big yearly. Look what it did for Boise and Cincinnati-they're both still on the outside looking in despite one team consistently in the top 10 of college football and the other having won a BCS conferences three out of the last four years. It became obvious a long time ago that this conference realignment was all about money. This playoff system that they've created for the time being is about as real as a unicorn. Let's face it-unless we get a lifeboat to one of the now so-called Big 5, it'll be a long time before we sniff anything close to a big money game.
  2. I doubt USF could get state funding without opening it up for use by the general student population. When USF practiced at the University of Toronto, for the International Bowl, they had a very nice multi purpose indoor facility, but that was more of a bubble type. It was very nice. http://physical.utor...ity_Centre.aspx UToronto opens it up for student recreation, so if we did something similar we might get the state to pay for some of it: One of the largest of its kind in Canada, the air-supported dome covers the entire field. Erected during the winter months, the dome greatly increases playing time throughout the year. The dome has had the biggest impact on U of T’s intramural programs, offering space for a number of wait-listed teams in a range of sports, including indoor soccer, field hockey, ultimate Frisbee, flag football, cricket and lacrosse. It has also significantly expanded practice hours for Varsity Blues track and field, football, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse and rugby teams. Community outreach has also been enhanced by the dome, which has expanded the Junior Blues program and created a driving range for golfers looking for an off-season practice space. http://physical.utor...tions/Dome.aspx I doubt we have anything like the U of Toronto dome. I have a number of family members who went there. Their endowment (and likely their donor base) is much larger than ours. Not only that, but they built their stadium to hold a lot more-cricket has larger pitches than any other field-based sport I know of, and it easily dwarfs a football field. I'm not sure we can expect any state support regardless. UF hates us and you just saw this spring how much power they wield.
  3. His son is on the golf team. I thought so-and that explains it.
  4. Hey guys. I spoke with Dr. Chowdhari at a wedding yesterday (I know him personally). While we were discussing various things the golf course came up. I asked him why he was interested in donating to the golf team specifically. He said that it was the only thing that was currently available for donations (not entirely buying it-I think one of his kids plays golf). Just an FYI for you all.
  5. They have a daughter as well, a year older then Bobby. Can she spin the laces and hold a place kick? Is she committed anywhere yet? Maybe she could walk on? I'm starting to think we all know a little too much about the Evelds. Thankfully, no, Tiffany can not hold a place kick. I knew her for a while in my last year of Student Government. She's a pretty smart girl though.
  6. It doesn't stand for anything much-only that UCF fans tend to complain that they only just barely lost to a lot of very good teams. Hence UCiF (only).
  7. I know Dr. Chowdhari and his wife personally and I can honestly say they're great people. The dedication they put towards USF doesn't surprise me at all.
  8. Ricketts is already as good as billed. She's just 1 pitch over the minimum required per inning. Good thing Nevins is just as hot.
  9. That big open area is a vital parking lot for many USF students. You really want to get rid of it?
  10. A classic pitchers duel and they're switching over? sad!
  11. Note that medina bats .391 in 2 out situations. can she do it here? Never mind. that may be a smart walk.
  12. Gets out of the jam with only one run. Hopefully our batting can cause them more problems.
  13. We keep impoving our nonrevenue sports and that's a great thing. It gives students something to think about when our football team and basketball team aren't on the field.
  14. I will freely concede that this will be my first softball game ever. Pity Boston University lost so early-I was hoping to have a crack at them. They're always in a different bracket.
  15. If we host a super regional this year it'll be an excellent showcase for the stadium. Please, please, make the gators go back to their dorms losers tomorrow!
  16. Some private schools like Jesuit get around "recruiting" by having promising athletes take an "academic" test that they, of course, pass with flying colors and an academic scholarship is offered. I don't think the player even get the 'graded' test back, if it is even graded at all. That's a load of BS dude. Everyone has to take that academic test. I did. So did my brother. We both graduated from there. I went to USF. He went to Miami. Has anyone here actually attended Jesuit besides me? Anyone? I was not on the football team, I ran cross country, but if we were recruiting, then we would have been in the late rounds of the FHSAA playoffs yearly for football. We made it to the 4th round in my freshman year in 2002 and after that we might have made the third round once between 2002 and 2006. As for cross country, we worked our butts off-if we recruited, then Coach Boza surely wasn't working hard enough. In your favor, I recently had a discussion with my counselor from my senior year there and he did state that the school has not done as well in recent years academically.
  17. Pity the Big East and the ACC football squads can't decide to just form their own conference and tell the basketball schools to go take a hike. You have to think that a conference with USF, FSU, Boise State, VT, UVA (since it's a package deal), Miami, Temple, NC State, Clemson, Cincinatti, Louisville, and a few bottom feeders would be a decent conference.
  18. I have a great idea. Just pull all funding now and tell "UF, you wanted to oversee the transition, here, pay for it too. You want the corridor present, pay for it yourself".
  19. He'll have three years of eligibility, but will probably only use one and go to the NFL. That would be fine with me, if he can be as productive as JPP was his one year here. Pierre Paul actually had fairly average production. He got taken in the first because he was a physical freak of nature and because he showed enough potential that the Giants knew they could develop him (they do tend to turn out top notch DEs).
  20. Can't forget Dre Davis Agreed. Now we just need a dominant passer to toss the ball to them...
  21. Already started on 2012, I see. I'll take it! I can't wait to see Dunkley and Montgomery in 2013. They could be the leaders of the Big East's most talented WR corps.
  22. This game is not just on Daniels. This game is on the entire team. When Pitt cannot stop you up the middle, you need to run the ball down their throats. I don't entirely blame him-he kept his composure the entire game and fought as best he could. I'm just not getting the lack of runs up the middle. We were killing them in the first half, and given time Pitt would have worn down jsut as much as we did. Yeah, our defense got gassed. Part of it was preparation. We didn't expect Sunseri to run like a maniac and didn't account for it. The other is that USF didn't play good fundamentals. You could see this a little bit last week-players weren't tackling, they kept going for the strip. I cant count how many times we caught Pitt in the backfield and let them get loose. USF now has a long layoff to prepare for UConn. You can bet we'll be better in two weeks.
  23. Agree on all points. I'm guessing the "spotlight" must be for the 5th best program in the state of FL. 3rd...UCF is better than Miami and YOU. :ROFLMAO I'm sorry. What makes you think that you could beat us? Our defense is better. QB is a wash. Running game is better. I won't deny you might have beaten us a year or two ago. But now? I'm sorry, but we would beat you by two touchdowns, and if our athletic department was willing, I'd be happy to see it happen in person.
