  1. I got the email. I plan on joining others for their tailgate, so I'm going to take advantage of the fact that my workplace is nearby and park there.
  2. I'm in section 124. I intend to stand this entire game... pity the section is no where near as energetic as the students section.
  3. That would denote a huge ST or defense play to help us out early. I like your thinking!
  4. It is this competence from B.J. Daniels that has me entertaining hopes of a legendary day from him to upset the Noles this week. We literally have not much else that will allow us to upset a team like the Seminoles, unless our defensive line plays like it's 2009.
  5. A pretty bad defense? May I remind you that this team was #6 in the country in sacks last year? The players responsible for that success are still here. How do you go from having one of the nation's best defensive lines to having no pass rush whatsoever?
  6. Hey, at least you guys didn't have to live through those emotional roller coasters.
  7. we had some pretty rough times in the CJL years too. But in 2012 it is a different landscape then it is was in 1997. atleast we don't have any Brian Fishers on the team. It is no secret that Leavitt built his team on non-qualifiers and second and third chance guys. these are players that Skip Holtz won't touch with a 10 ft pole Yep, back in the day we used to take 2-3 star players and develop them into NFL players. Now we take 4 star players and develop them into Sun Belt quality starters. Hey don't knock the Sun Belt. I'm not sure we'd beat ULM right now.
  8. Kirby Smart? I wish. I'd settle for a hot DC from a BCS conference.
  9. They surely held their own today. WKU upsets Kentucky, Louisiana-Monroe and Troy take Auburn and Mississippi State to OT.
  10. Guys! You are overblowing things. Nevada killed us for 15 minutes. We shut them down for 20 minutes, they got back in it and then we rallied. Don't get me wrong, I'm unhappy that Terrence Mitchell handed back the momentum, but you act like we scored four touchdowns in 5 minutes and did nothing for most of the game.
  11. You know something? I am no longer concerned about what Greg Schiano chooses to do with Rutgers. He is not on the other sideline now-he is not the bane of USF's existence, unless of course he's making large donations to Rutgers athletics. He's the Buccaneers coach now. Granted, he was a whiny little girl on the sideline, but I see the class act he's put on with Legrand and how he's chosen to change the culture of the Bucs football team. Let him do as he pleases.
  12. I wouldn't say they outplayed us for 56 minutes guys. We pretty much owned the second quarter and the first part of the third, as well as those pivotal last few minutes. That said, ten minutes to go, I was having a hard time keeping the radio on in the car. It felt like we'd reached our limits. Watching Andre Davis blow up like that capped a pretty good day.
  13. Give it to both guys. Let's face it, if the defense doesn't get the Nevada offense off the field, game's over. And if the offense doesn't get those touchdowns, we lose anyway.
  14. I will say one thing in his favor regarding all those high passes today. Remember what they were saying about the thin air causing passes to sail? One wonders if it also causes his passes to get higher than they normally would. Five drops is a problem too, but I think next week will tell us a lot more about his accuracy.
  15. The last time we did this was in 2008 against Kansas...granted that was at home...this was on the road against a good team that was almost unbeatable at home.
  16. I'm still wondering why we shifted Popek from LT. Was his backup THAT good to shift him away from the second most important position on the offense? The tackles were getting pushed back regularly against UTC. This is one experiment I'm wondering what Skip was thinking, especially with as well as the oline played last year.
  17. Agreed Gismo. At some point ESPN will cross the line from unethical into illegal and the Big east needs to be able to catch them out.
  18. I can't help but think this may help us with Travis Johnson. Ruff is a good recruit and he may well get us Johnson too...which would be awesome.
  19. Don't think for a second that they wouldn't pick off Boise State in a heartbeat. They're a much better geographic fit for the Pac-12 and there's absolutely no question BSU would go there-the money is way better than it is in the Big East. SDSU could come into play as well. After that, not sure.
  20. Firstly, even if you factor in that there are 5 conferences plus ND, that's six out of eleven. Last I checked that's a majority. We're suddenly outnumbered and it's going to go the way of the House of Representatives-the minority will never have a shot at anything. As for barnacles on the Queen Mary. Consider that even if we're barnacles, we don't match up to the first class passengers who will have five to ten times our revenue. We can fight all we like-it's going to take a hell of a lot more to make us big than just winning big yearly. Look what it did for Boise and Cincinnati-they're both still on the outside looking in despite one team consistently in the top 10 of college football and the other having won a BCS conferences three out of the last four years. It became obvious a long time ago that this conference realignment was all about money. This playoff system that they've created for the time being is about as real as a unicorn. Let's face it-unless we get a lifeboat to one of the now so-called Big 5, it'll be a long time before we sniff anything close to a big money game.
  21. I doubt USF could get state funding without opening it up for use by the general student population. When USF practiced at the University of Toronto, for the International Bowl, they had a very nice multi purpose indoor facility, but that was more of a bubble type. It was very nice. http://physical.utor...ity_Centre.aspx UToronto opens it up for student recreation, so if we did something similar we might get the state to pay for some of it: One of the largest of its kind in Canada, the air-supported dome covers the entire field. Erected during the winter months, the dome greatly increases playing time throughout the year. The dome has had the biggest impact on U of T’s intramural programs, offering space for a number of wait-listed teams in a range of sports, including indoor soccer, field hockey, ultimate Frisbee, flag football, cricket and lacrosse. It has also significantly expanded practice hours for Varsity Blues track and field, football, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse and rugby teams. Community outreach has also been enhanced by the dome, which has expanded the Junior Blues program and created a driving range for golfers looking for an off-season practice space. http://physical.utor...tions/Dome.aspx I doubt we have anything like the U of Toronto dome. I have a number of family members who went there. Their endowment (and likely their donor base) is much larger than ours. Not only that, but they built their stadium to hold a lot more-cricket has larger pitches than any other field-based sport I know of, and it easily dwarfs a football field. I'm not sure we can expect any state support regardless. UF hates us and you just saw this spring how much power they wield.
