  1. Coach Go!!!! is so inspiring not only do the players believe, the fans do to. I guess you don’t need to be a hype man (D. Sanders) to be inspiring and win over players and fans early in your first season.
  2. My position has always been that athletes should be employed and receive the same benefits that graduate students do. A graduate student package often includes full tuition, and a monthly salary. When I was in graduate school ten years ago I received full tuition and $1700/mo ($20,400/yr). I lived on that with roommates and still had money left over to buy cheap plane tickets to visit my long distance girl friend (now wife). I don’t know why this was never considered. Player endorsement and compensation arrangements aren’t the real problem. I honestly think the penalty free transfer rules are more harmful to the stability of the sport than NIL or player compensation. How can a team be built if all of the athletes enter free agency every year? And can select new teams every season? It’s a mess. There should be limits on transferring.
  3. Had we kicked field goals it easily could have been 10-9. But it’s hard to win without getting a touchdown, I think going for TDs was the right call.
  4. So, what is their bowl tie in? This could have a hilarious outcome.
  5. It’s just manufactured interest by ESPN. They talk about Deon Sanders non-stop. They need something to get ratings and they decided to run with Deon Sanders for now.
  6. Top 90…! We were like 180s when I enrolled. Proud to be a bull! I think this years ranking adjustments were more favorable to public schools and hurt private schools. For example, Wake Forest dropped from 29 to 47. Oof! “””According to the publication, the new version of the rankings puts more emphasis on helping students move up in society and on college graduate outcomes, such as proportion of the college's graduates that earn more on average than high school graduates. The ranking factors that were dropped this year include class size, proportion of faculty with terminal degrees, alumni giving, proportion of graduates borrowing, and high school class standing.”””
  7. I’d rather play in the SEC for the matchups, but probably the ACC would be a little easier to win the conference. the SEC is bringing in all of the best competition so there can only be one winner.
  8. This tells me Academics aren’t that important. All of our former AAC conference mates who left were lower than us by USNWR ratings. The SEC took Missouri and Oklahoma. The Big 12 clearly only cares about football. Why is the American conference left off of this?
  9. Leavitt is the past though, so we can recognize the error USF made in firing him, but the only way to dig ourselves out of this mess of a situation is to learn from mistakes and make the right moves today and in the future. The same philosophy Golesh preaches, the next play is all that matters.
  10. After USF, each defense he coached got better after he showed up.
  11. And this is why cal get left behind in the PAC and why they probably weren’t a good add to the ACC.
  12. This is a crap take. USF smeared his name so no one would give him a head coach job. He turned around more than one defense as defensive coordinator, but the head coaches he worked for got canned. That’s how the coaching profession goes, he was along for the ride of the head coach. Leavitt’s record as head coach speaks for itself, he had one of the longest running bowl streaks as a head coach, had gotten us to be ranked more consistently, and had shown he can win on the big stage. What he lacked was depth because he was still punching above his weight class with the talent level he was able to recruit. Instead of firing Leavitt, If USF has announced indoor practice facilities and OCS instead, recruiting would have picked up enough to get the needed depth and this program would be in a completely different place. In 2007 a key offensive lineman was injured at Rutgers, and our pass protection suffered which was a huge contributor to the losses we suffered after starting the season 6-0. That’s depth that could have been fixed as recruiting increases. We were upsetting teams with far more talent than us. We had elite defense but just needed the offense to get over the hurdle. Leavitt started with zero, it’s incredible where he left this program in such a short time. We had the big crowds, we had the marquee wins, the timing was perfect to upgrade our facilities and go for an OCS to take the program higher. We just needed some more depth and some more talent on offense. It’s not clear that investing in academics for AAU and investing in football were mutually exclusive. Leavitt is an elite coach in my mind. Every squad he has coached has gotten measurably better by the stats and win-loss column.
  13. I know Texas A&M fans that don’t want to play Texas. Another natural rivalry.
  14. Coaching wasn’t that bad. We simply don’t have receiver talent to match up against Alabama’s defensive backs.
  15. I think our receivers are a larger problem than the QB.
  16. I really wish they would ask more about what they learn, or what they change each week if they change anything. Golesh keeps referring to the process, but it’s a feedback loop. I’d to know what they take away each week to improve. They ask really dumb questions about how people feel, who cares. I want to know what they are doing to get better.
  17. He has a lot more ownership over the play calling and outcomes than most coaches. I think he is able to recognize he has to put players in a position to win, and doesn’t blame players when they weren’t set up for success, but if they were, he will hold the players accountable. Signs of a good leader.
  18. I think Golesh has some of that Leavitt fire that gets players to elevate their effort and focus. Some coaches have it, some don’t. Taggart had some fire in him too at times, but didn’t unlock it until he completely reworked the offense.
  19. Saban pacing the sideline in a close game is one of my favorite parts of college football. I’ll miss that when he retires. Glad USF got him flustered.
  20. I like how he answers stupid questions. It’s entertaining. Looking forward to him clowning the press again. I call this, the Post Game Pressure.
  21. The offense with fewer mistakes won today. Alabama is one of the most consistently disciplined teams in CFB and rarely gets beaten by their own mistakes. USF has a ways to go, the offsides on Alabama last possession being a prime example. We had some predictable play calls and bad QB decisions as well.
