Hadn't thought of that.  Pretty good insight as far as the age thing goes.  They'll never let that happen.

NFL needs to set up funds for fans to contribute to player salaries. I could see a lot of hardcore fans who don’t buy tickets but watch in TV throwing a few extra dollars at it for some cheap bobble head in return.

I guess this would clash with the salary cap though.

    College has no cap.

NIL is proving fans are willing to contribute to pay players.

If the NFL is willing to play ball after all this time it means they are starting to get nervous. The NCAA should try to undercut the NFL and keep kids in their prime athletic years in college and start paying them. They have more dedicated fan bases in college and they should use this advantage over the NFL.

Imagine if kids coming out of college were between 25-28 instead of 22? The NFL would basically become the senior tour. They would have to eventually develop their own minor league system that would compete with CFB driving up costs and potentially cutting their ad deals if they start to decline because of age of players\loss of viewership.

NFL should start letting fans donate to players.

I don't think the question was about actual viewers but rather what do the media and distribution partners count as the teams respective markets for carriage fees of a conference network on cable customers. It's why the B1G took Maryland and Rutgers. Not because those two teams have expansive fan bases they were hoping to draw in, but rather the fact that they are in the DC and NYC markets respectively means the B1G could add 2 new large markets and the carriage fees for all those customers. Regardless how many actually watch or care about B1G sports.

If ESPN and their cable partners count FL as one whole marker, then USF won't add anything new. But if the Miami and Tampa markets and customers are counted separately, then yes. I'm leaning towards the latter but don't know for sure.

With the rise of streaming and decline of cable, this isn’t as straight forward as it was in the past.

Seven ACC schools have come to the ACC office to examine the strength of the grant of rights in the past months. In addition to Clemson and Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and NC State have also met with legal teams to examine the agreement.

Shouldn’t they have done that BEFORE they signed?

  5. The remaining ACC schools don’t add much value to the big 12. Not enough to justify expansion.

That’s why the new contract pays the Big12 and ACC the same. When FSU and Clemson and maybe UNC and Virginia are gone, the ACC will be paid less. None of the remaining members will be strong big12 additions.

I think the ACC left overs have no option but to stick together and consider adding Uconn and USF.

Not sure you realize the spike in construction costs we had with the great inflation of 2020.

prices of construction materials are up almost 60% from 2014.

That means a $266M stadium now costs roughly $425M.

They don’t get it becoming they haven’t been close enough to construct to know.

A project I was working in 2020 the suppliers were giving quotes on materials that were good for one day only. That’s how fast prices were rising.

I also remember shipping containers being priced at $17,000

It’s also driving Home insurance rates up around the country because replacement costs are much higher now.

There are a lot of ways to stretch 300mil. First, leave it open at one end zone and reinvest in the rest of the seating areas, next leave the other end zone lower, so you can add to the second level of the grand stand side. Third, do not have the “mini” lower level bowl and build it like a traditional lower bowl. The way they chopped it around, makes it looks “lego” to me. This is just my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I will be happy just to get something. I just love stadium designs and want us to have a quality stadium with character.

The second level overhang is a feature I love. It’s uncommon on small stadiums but it’s going to help with the noise and make everyone feel close to the field.

    I think it’s a great design.

It’s going to be a unique and well respected stadium once completed. You guys are hiding from colorless renders.

  8. It’s going to be awesome.
You guys saying we’re overpaying don’t appreciate the inflation that has occurred in the last decade.
And you can’t see the inside.
Some of the tenders also show A LOT of chair backs seats, most of the sideline seats in fact.

This will be much more than just metal bleachers.

And the way it’s split level with the second level overhung to be closer to the field is unique for a stadium of this smaller size. That’s going to give it a very close to the field feel, for both the fans, and the players and coaches.

  9. Based on the numbers, no one is jumping from the ACC to big12.

    BUT

If FSU and maybe others jump to the SEC or the Big 10, do the ACC numbers fall to below the big 12 numbers?

What will be left in the ACC probably won’t add much value to the Big12 to make it worthwhile for the big12 anyway. These big12 homers on x-twitter are deluded.

The ACC will snap up some American conference schools and call It a day if they lose members. Just like they snapped up the PAC schools.
