This is evident just looking at basketball... the fourth- and fifth- year players on a team like Oakland manhandled the more talented, but significantly younger, players at Kentucky.  Sure, the talent difference was remarkable... but when the game gets more phyiscal, that difference can be mitigated.

A lot of people like to compare the top college teams with bottom NFL teams... "Alabama could beat ..." this year it's U Conn could beat some NBA teams.  No.  No they could not... 18-22 year olds could not beat teams that are just as talented but 8 to 10 years older, stronger, and more experienced.

Consider how many rookies go from college to starting their first game and succeed.  For every CJ Stroud there's plenty of Ryan Leafs... and there is even more disparity for the late rounders.

All the more reason to extend eligibility in the NCAA. They could cut into profits of both the NFL and NBA.

If college football threatened the NFL the NFL could allow players straight out of high school to be drafted and setup a minor league feeder system for kids not ready for the NFL. They could also schedule games running against college games on tv. It’d be tough to compete.

That is a massive cost and who would watch that over CFB? Nobody would have any rooting interest in the Jacksonville Jaguars minor league team.

CFB really has an advantage and I imagine that is what private equity can see with the super league crap.

Makes me wonder why the NCAA just doesn’t give up on years of eligibility concept and just let people take a class and play as long as they freaking want.  Isn’t that really where we’re headed anyway?  No rules.   Can’t say no to the kids.  Why let the NFL dictate?

If the NFL is willing to play ball after all this time it means they are starting to get nervous. The NCAA should try to undercut the NFL and keep kids in their prime athletic years in college and start paying them. They have more dedicated fan bases in college and they should use this advantage over the NFL.

Imagine if kids coming out of college were between 25-28 instead of 22? The NFL would basically become the senior tour. They would have to eventually develop their own minor league system that would compete with CFB driving up costs and potentially cutting their ad deals if they start to decline because of age of players\loss of viewership.

FSU is retarded for wanting out of the ACC. They let ONE year get the best of them and now they look like whining idiots. If it wasn't for FSU and Clemson's tantrum, the ACC is in a much better position than the Big 12. If FSU goes to the SEC, they'll never get to the playoffs again.

If it wasn't for FSU and Clemson they would clearly be behind the Big12 right now. Miami and VT never getting their crap together to provide depth is what is killed the conference.

There is no such thing as a worse situation than the AAC. It is beyond embarrassing that our university has fallen to this level. Every day that we remain associated with this conference further erodes everything we've built.

Whats embarrassing is watching a school to east invest in football and pass us by. We deserve to be exactly where we are at this point.

disagree. I think academics still matter to the presidents of those schools.

I think there are only 2 big 12 schools ranked in the top 100. That's tcu at 98 and baylor at 93.

Duke, Stanford etc would not want to be associated with wvu, TTech, Kansas state, etc.

Yeah idk about that. All of this realignment is strictly for money.

Unless I missed Bama leaving for the Ivy League.

The big12 doesnt have a team that left that has won a national championship this century. FSU and Clemson are bigger brands than anything left in the B12. UNC and The U have more name recognition than anyone left in the B12. I do not understand how anyone thinks the b12 is better off in the present or future than the acc. If you look at the last 50 years the current ACC has way more championships than the current b12.

FSU and Clemson are gone in this scenario. OSU is the top remaining football school between the two conferences overall. I think TCU is the only other school that has made the most noise recently between the two conferences? Most\some of the ACC schools are basketball schools.

The best thing he did was leave, that dog had no hunt.

It is looking Tony Elliot is a world beater compared to CJS. He is 6-16 at Virginia.

But for real, those two were considered the top assistants in CFB at one point and have posted a combined 10-42 record as coaches lol. Looks like the only one with hunt was Venables.

That was the last call up. There's no G5 with near the sustained success of the 4 who went, especially in this half of the country. Memphis probably comes the closest. If there are promotions in the next several years, it'll be driven by factors not as cut and dried as sustained on the field success.

For USF, I think it is sustained success and building the brand.
