  1. Why are people always posting Big 12 shills here? They are trying to manifest the reality that they are not the weaker conference. Hey guys, you lost OU and TX, remember? The ACC probably doesn't even want, nor need FSU at this point.
  2. There is a weird myth that college students must be college kids.
  3. There is no P2. It's all made up. Stop perpetuating the falsehood. Yes, two of the conferences make more money via TV. No, that doesn't make them special.
  4. Well that does it. We should reject our invite to the B1G. /s
  5. IMO, the Big 12 is actually a perfect fit for FSU, culturally, academically, and geographically. I'm sure UCF would love to have them as a conference rival. Meanwhile, let's get USF to the ACC to make our Miami games more meaningful.
  6. Makes me sad how much some on here think everything is driven by money. I have a feeling CAG takes much more into consideration. The money is fine. USF might not pay him as much as an Alabama, but we'll be able to pay him plenty to stay here.
  7. Dark times ahead for Alabama. Bama is nothing without Saban. They sucked before he got there. Nobody on that team wants to live in Alabama, they just wanted to play for Saban. Change my mind.
  8. One of the things that Central always had going for it was a lack of professional football in the area. They are Orlando's only option. USF has to split fandom with the Bucs. A lot of people don't care to follow multiple teams. IMO, if Orlando had an NFL team, Central Florida wouldn't have leap frogged us.
  9. "Football" and "Winning Football" are two different things. The Saban Effect only applies to a handful of universities. Plus, Alabama wasn't exactly known for its academics, so they had a lot of room to improve in enrollment, before Saban got there.
  10. I think that it shows that winning is more important than who you play. Also, a lot of people going to college ultimately don't decide where they go based on football. A lot do, but most probably don't.
  11. I don't think anyone is meaning to fault Battie or even blaming him for following the money. However, at USF we are going to struggle losing players to the portal every year. If the culture is that they can just leave risk-free and come back if things don't work out, that would lead to a lot more departures and uncertainty year in and year out. The example Coach is setting here is more important than any single year results.
  12. If Coach Go allowed him back, it would set a precedence of letting players abandon the team to test the waters of the portal with no real repercussions. The example this sets is way more important than any extra yards Battie MIGHT rack up for the team. Coach is the real deal.
  13. good catch, i didn't edit the response. AI is known to "hallucinate" sometimes. Great example of if you are going to use it professionally, make sure you edit/proofread. Edit: not bad for spitting that response out in real time though..
  14. In an effort to get an unbiased as possible opinion, I just asked Bing AI: "Imagine you are in charge of realigning the entire college football landscape. How would you organize a group of 10 conferences to split up the 133 current FBS football teams? Focus on preserving geographic rivalries, but also create parity, so that each conference is relatively equal in perceived strength. List each conference with their members in a bulleted list. You may invent new names for these new conferences, if necessary. The goal is to create a 16-team post-season playoff system where each conference winner and 6 at-large bids get into the playoff." The response: That’s a very interesting and challenging question. I’ll try to come up with a possible solution, but keep in mind that this is just my opinion and not based on any official criteria or data. Here is one way I would organize the 10 conferences, with 13 teams each: Pacific Coast Conference (PCC): This conference would include teams from the West Coast and Hawaii, mostly from the current Pac-12 and Mountain West. The PCC would have two divisions: North and South. The teams are: North: Washington Washington State Oregon Oregon State Boise State Utah BYU South: USC UCLA Stanford California Arizona Arizona State Hawaii Southwest Conference (SWC): This conference would include teams from Texas, Oklahoma, and neighboring states, mostly from the current Big 12 and Conference USA. The SWC would have two divisions: East and West. The teams are: East: Texas Texas A&M Texas Tech Baylor TCU SMU Rice West: Oklahoma Oklahoma State Tulsa UTEP New Mexico New Mexico State Air Force Great Plains Conference (GPC): This conference would include teams from the Midwest and the Great Plains, mostly from the current Big Ten and MAC. The GPC would have two divisions: East and West. The teams are: East: Ohio State Michigan Michigan State Penn State Indiana Purdue Notre Dame West: Nebraska Iowa Iowa State Minnesota Wisconsin Northwestern Illinois Southeastern Conference (SEC): This conference would include teams from the Southeast, mostly from the current SEC and Sun Belt. The SEC would have two divisions: East and West. The teams are: East: Florida Georgia South Carolina Tennessee Kentucky Vanderbilt Appalachian State West: Alabama Auburn LSU Mississippi Mississippi State Arkansas Louisiana Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC): This conference would include teams from the Atlantic Coast, mostly from the current ACC and American Athletic Conference. The ACC would have two divisions: Atlantic and Coastal. The teams are: Atlantic: Clemson Florida State Louisville NC State Wake Forest Boston College Syracuse Coastal: Miami Virginia Virginia Tech North Carolina Duke Pittsburgh Navy Northeast Conference (NEC): This conference would include teams from the Northeast, mostly from the current FBS independents and American Athletic Conference. The NEC would have two divisions: North and South. The teams are: North: Army UMass UConn Buffalo Temple Rutgers Maryland South: West Virginia Marshall Cincinnati Ohio Liberty Charlotte East Carolina Mid-American Conference (MAC): This conference would include teams from the Mid-American region, mostly from the current MAC and Conference USA. The MAC would have two divisions: East and West. The teams are: East: Akron Bowlin Green Kent State Miami (OH) Toledo Western Kentucky Middle Tennessee West: Ball State Central Michigan Eastern Michigan Western Michigan Northern Illinois Southern Miss Louisiana Tech Mountain West Conference (MWC): This conference would include teams from the Mountain West region, mostly from the current Mountain West and FBS independents. The MWC would have two divisions: Mountain and West. The teams are: Mountain: Colorado Colorado State Wyoming Utah State Nevada UNLV San Diego State West: Fresno State San Jose State Cal Poly UC Davis Sacramento State Idaho Idaho State Sun Belt Conference (SBC): This conference would include teams from the Sun Belt region, mostly from the current Sun Belt and Conference USA. The SBC would have two divisions: East and West. The teams are: East: Georgia State Georgia Southern Coastal Carolina Troy South Alabama UAB FAU West: UL Monroe UL Lafayette Arkansas State Texas State UTSA North Texas FIU American Conference (AC): This conference would include teams from various regions of the country, mostly from the current American Athletic Conference and FBS independents. The AC would have two divisions: North and South. The teams are: North: UCF USF Memphis Houston Tulsa SMU UTEP South: Missouri Kansas Kansas State South Carolina North Carolina Duke Wake Forest
  15. That's some Grade-A ********. So, we're eligible to potentially participate in the CFP, but don't get to share in the money, because of some arbitrarily made up division of P5/G5 with no real meaning. Smells like a class action lawsuit in the making. I know there's a lot more important issues in the country/world, but I really wish that congress would step in and blow up the entire college football landscape and rebuild from scratch. There's a lot of state-funded institutions involved and a lot of money at stake.
  16. How often does a player enter the portal, but not end up transfering?
  17. BULLSHTR's 2024 Football Season Prediction Week 1: Bethune Cookman - Loss (0-1, 0-0) — Our guys get caught looking ahead to next week playing @ Tuscaloserville and the scrappy HBCU team from Daytona has an FAU-esque made up rivalry moment and stuns us at home. Week 2: @ Alabama - Loss (0-2, 0-0) — The team has a major confidence issue from their embarrassing season home opener. Alabama jumps out to an early lead, but then USF surprisingly hangs in there enough to where it doesn't get too ugly. Once again, Saban goes for style points with the clock winding down in the 4th quarter. Week 3: @ Southern Miss - Loss (0-3, 0-0) — It's Week 3 and the team is beat up. On top of that, we have Miami at home next week and once again, we are only thinking about getting back home and taking it to the Hurricanes. Southern Piss takes advantage and wins in a shootout in double OT. Week 4: Miami - Loss (0-4, 0-0) — More players on the injured list. Also, Miami is playing great and they win making it look easy. Week 5: @ Charlotte - Win (1-4, 1-0) — The season has gotten off to a terrible start, but now conference play starts. Golesh gets the team's head on straight and comes out with their first win of the season on the road at Charlotte. 1 and 'O in the AAC! Week 6: @ FAU - Loss (1-5, 1-1) — USF comes ready to play this time, but FAU is still out for blood. Both teams are playing lights out, but there are penalty flags every few plays. At times, the players seemed to stop caring about the rules. FAU pulls out a close one with their slight home-field advantage and every USF fan is worried that FAU is "passing" us. Week 7: @ Rice - Win (2-5, 2-1) — Another week on the road, but this time it's cream-puffed Rice. We win this one easily, but it's still not clear if our team is good. Week 8: @ Tulane - Loss (2-6, 2-2) — With their HC and QB gone, this is not the Tulane team of yore. They still are fundamentally good and win this high-scoring, back-and-forth game. Week 9: UAB - Win (3-6, 3-2) — Nobody knows what UAB was on, the last time we met. This time though, the Bulls stampede the team from Birmingham and show signs of greatness. This is the team we thought we were! Week 10: Memphis - Win (4-6, 4-2) — Despite the 0-4 start, the team is already in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the AAC. A win here would put them ahead of Memphis. The team is at home and puts on a clinic. Week 11: Navy - Win (5-6, 5-2) — The Bulls carry the momentum right through the next two games. Week 12: Tulsa - Win (6-6, 6-2) — Easy win and the team is on a hot 4-game win streak going into a championship rematch against Tulane. Week 13: AAC Championship vs. Tulane - Win (7-6, 7-2) — This game looks a lot like the first game, but this time USF comes out on top and wins our first conference championship. Week 14: Non-NY6 Bowl - Win (8-6, 7-2) — We play the 5-7 Gators in the Gasparilla Bowl and hand them an L. This time our kicker makes a couple clutch field goals.
