    Not sure if the administration was trying to distance themselves from that whole "golden calf" thing. God already seems ticked off at USF enough!

    Thinking I may just wait until we play at Charlotte. Much closer and hopefully we'll both -- USF and me -- be better by then.

    Per forecasts up here in NC it looks like it will rain but maybe not as hard as originally thought. Still trying to decide whether to brave my the rain, crappy drive to Greeneville and my cardiac issues to watch the Bulls potentially worsen the latter.

    Shooters at USF? Never! Well hardly ever! (with a nod to Gilbert & Sullivan). If we're bring back some of our old conference foes -- UAB and Charlotte -- can we also bring back Charlie Bradley, Radenko Dobras and a Doug Aplin?

    Again, maybe we should drop all men's sports and pour all resources into women's athletics. Perhaps an easier route to program success and becoming national media darlings.

    Maybe the AAC should rotate coaches each year or allow coaches to enter the portal. After all, we should be looking for coach like Bum Phillips described bear Bryant: "Bryant can take his'n and beat your'n, and then he can turn around and take your'n and beat his'n. " ~ On Bear Bryant

    Maybe I misunderstood. I thought it was to commemorate being a donor for 25 years. Anyway, I'm not going to replace my Iron Bulls tag with this plastic one. Still, I agree, it is always nice to be recognized appreciatively.

    I would have loved to add Coastal Carolina and App State (particularly would have made road tripping quite convenient for me). I don't believe for a second that they weren't contacted but I don't see much they would gain from a move to the AAC.

    I really don't know which is more depressing: The prospect of a future wed to the AAC which has to resort to inviting "meh" teams to join or that we are worse than any of them.

    Yes, that's true. And had we maintained anything near that level of success for long enough that the coffee didn't get cold we may not have had some of the problems with ticket sales and attendance today.

    This was a Harlan initiative and there was much angst and great consternation among staff and the Bulls Club Board at the time. Even though it adversely affected me, at the time I thought it was the right move to incentivize new bigger donors and lower overall ticket prices (one of the few things I ever agreed with MH about). I did, however, think they utilized a rather sledgehammer approach and, unfortunately, our on-field performance soon plummeted, which pretty much wiped out any advantage which might have been gained.

    Believe me, in my younger, saltier USF fan days if I was displeased with Coaching they would know it. A big booster friend of mine asked me at the end of one of my colorful language tirades if I really thought they could hear me down on the field. The following week he was on the sidelines. He came back to me afterward and apologized saying "Yes, they can hear you!" Still, I never boo the players. It would be like booing my daughter at one of her games if I felt she didn't make the right play or give the proper effort.

    Interesting. Tennessee is number 1 for the fans being too passionate and we are number 2 for not giving a #$&%!

    Thought he was a knee jerk hire as the U's head coach but he has proven his worth as a DC, even at Middle Tennessee and La Tech. He would definitely be an upgrade for USF if he were interested.
