  1. Just to clarify my original post, I am not comparing loses or campaigning for Scott to be rehired I am using the recent past to illustrate that our situation has improved and those who want to declare CAG a failure after a single game are seriously jumping the gun
  2. Hopefully, when he watches the tape, CAG will realize that the offense went a little too fast between plays at times, which IMO is where the Gilbert look comes from This was especially evident on the 4th and 5 that they missed in the 3rd qtr - that play looked rushed and a bit disorganized
  3. Looking at the past is as relevant as saying that CAG is a failed head coach because he lost his first game as a 2 touchdown underdog
  4. Some on this board need to slow their roll a little and think about what the game would have looked like had Jeff Scott been at the helm 1) The first offensive series would have been a 3 and out 2) We would have been down 2+ touchdowns before we achieved a first down 3) We would have been down 3+ touchdowns before the offense crossed midfield 4) We would have been down 4+ touchdowns at the half 5) We would have been down 5+ touchdowns before we did anything offensively, scoring some garbage points against WKU’s second string 6) There would have been multiple defensive plays where a WKU receiver/running back ping ponded off USF players for long gains due to bad tackling 7) We would have kicked at least one 4th quarter, 4th and short red zone field goal while being down double digits Yes, the game was not perfect, but there were more glimpses of hope yesterday than i have seen in 5 years
  5. The only 2 QB play that I can remember us running was Voodoo5 and that did not work out well
  6. True, keeping Leavitt would have avoided the losing seasons and certainly would have netted some decent revenue as a result As to the “For What”, that answer depends whether you believe Leavitt’s narrative or the University’s Personally, I would have liked USF to have buried the axe in 2020 and hired CJL as opposed to CJS Now, I think that the best that we are going to see is some sort of Jim Leavitt day and maybe some sort of acknowledgment in the OCS
  7. Since USF settled with CJL, in-which neither side admitted fault, I am not sure that USF can actually issue an apology - at least not without some sort of change to the settlement terms (probably involving Leavitt returning some of the money that USF paid in the settlement)
  8. I checked the alumni site and was surprised to see Glory Days listed for Pinellas - pre-Covid, it was Capogna’s. Anyone know when this changed? https://www.usfalumni.org/s/861/02-alumni/index.aspx?sid=861&gid=1&pgid=2326
  9. Messing with your eyes always works out well in sports
  10. Well, the storm is projected to pass Tampa in the middle of the night, so there really would be no practice at that time either way As a side note, how much extra distance could GB or BB get throwing downwind in hurricane force gusts, maybe 30 yards?
  11. Clearly you are not a cyclist - pre-hurricane rides are the best time to hunt for tailwind KOMs on Strava and set some records!
  12. The general reason not to do this is that when your windows do break (the tape is non-structural) you could possibly have larger pieces of glass flying at you The easiest way to protect against this eventuality is to write Matt Floyd’s name on the tape and wear a USF jersey with a number in the 80s - this should ensure that no glass comes anywhere near you
  13. Does CAG know about the adverse effects that humidity can have on the outcome of a football game?
  14. I can understand your admiration - in fact, it is almost a crime that I am still working my day job as opposed to sitting alongside Lee Corso and @Outlaw on College Gameday
  15. That is a tough one to play out, since it eliminates 12 years of history, 4 head coaches, multiple recruiting philosophies and various game strategies We definitely still wind-up in the AAC, though the seasons play-out drastically different with Leavitt at the helm 2010 is probably the same end result and we do not see as bad a slide in 2011. We have winning records in 2012 - 2015, maybe even winning a conference championship, since Leavitt was always good against weaker foes. The three headed monster in Flowers/Mack/Adams never happens, because Leavitt was primarily a defensive coach and may not have landed all of them. My guess is that we do not beat UCF in 2017, so their timeline continues unchecked. Best case scenario is that the Big12 takes both USF & UCF based on continual USF success over the years - there is also a good chance in this scenario that we are still in the AAC, since I do not think a Leavitt coached team would have beat UCF in 2017
  16. 2 things here - the article discusses Cincinnati, but ignores USF The article also ignores the A10, where Penn State wound up for basketball The A10 could have easily sponsored football in the 80s and been respectable, with PSU, Va Tech, WVU, Rutgers and maybe even Pitt (who left the A10 in ‘82) Maybe even my alma matter (GWU) would have brought back football to compete in that league
  17. The other fun hypothetical is if USF somehow convinced Willie to stay for 2017 - then we miss both Chuckles and Scott Should’ves, Would’ves and Could’ves I guess
  18. I often wonder what would have happened if Chuckles had put in the effort and we pulled the perfect season in 2017, including a conference championship and BCS bowl win Maybe Nebraska takes Charlie as opposed to Frost (Charlie would have been a hot target) and we get Heupel? Chances are that with a better finish in 2017, we miss CJS altogether
  19. We also used to have the U-S-F BULLS cheer on kickoffs, but Covid and lack of kickoffs under CJS kind of killed that one
