  1. Without Doug Woolard we would have been UCF these past 16 years. Wallowing away in the CUSA, if that. Doug pulled together one hell of a deal to get us into the Big East. They did not want us, and he worked to the deal with the schools that they did want to get us included. That is the main reason we did not get the Big East love. He can be blames for firing CJL, but honestly, you are blaming the prosecuting attorney for the murder conviction. He can be blamed for Skip, he was hired by DW I guess, though honestly we all know it was a board decision of DW's recommendation. Skip was also a hero on this board when he was hired. A huge feather in USF's cap, we get his daddy for free, he is the anti-CJL and the fans loved him until he lost and lost and lost. Now we have CWT, everyone was on the bus until the first stop last night. Now you want to fire DW, why too soon to start the "fire the bus driver" stories? Look at ALL sports, he is responsible for th budget and the management of all sports, not just football. Look at the facilities, where all the programs are now compared to the 90's. Hell, 5 years ago. The nationally ranked softball team played on a field that the county would not have kept open as a little league field. Jefferson played on a better baseball diamond than the Bulls. The soccer team played in a donated stadium, and the offices sucked. He rebuilt the Sun Dome, now if some of you would go to a ******* game you would see that. OH, forgot, they are not a national champion team so it is not worth the time.
  2. sorry but state public universities mandates aren't to fund athletic departments. they are to educate the public at a reasonable cost. an athletic department should only be funded as well as it's donors allow. maybe they should use some of that $15M to keep the library open for the students. apparently budget concerns led to a cut in hours that saves the university $136k per year. a drop in the bucket compared to the $15M funneled to athletics. However, the athletic fees are approved by the state so they do accept and feel they are reasonable. How about any of the other 100 places the school could find that money? How many students truly use the facility late night? I am not defending athletics over education, just saying this is a very myopic view of the problem.
  3. These guys did not celebrate each tackle. or touchdown, of which there were plenty. They showed what CWT BS'ed about, blue collar work ethic. They came in, did there job, kicked our ass, and never once stood at mid-field like a pimp jumping up and down celebrating a mediocre play. Get the ghetto out of the program, and act like you have done this before. Nothing is more demoralizing than a big hit, when the guy gets up and walks back to his huddle like it was nothing. You know it will be a long day.
  4. Sorry, coaching the football team is not Woolard's job. Hiring a competent coach and setting the budget is. I think he has set a proper budget. I think Willie sees he has an issue, hence the radio silence coming into this game. Woolard could have put another number in front of the 2 commas to find a bigger coach but would that make a difference this year? We got a coach that everyone locally loved, and did an immediate impact job on local recruiting. Everyone on this site loved it, and thought it was best. Now, live with your love. If the team did not do what they did in practice, it is on them. I heard two things from CWT last night on his post game. One, the defence did not cover the gaps as they should, that is on the players, and they did not have guys in there that did what they were told, that is CWT. If he has guys on the field that are not executing, he should override his coordinators and demand new players go in. He better straighten this crap out in the next 6 days. It is bad enough we are getting national recognition for letting a FCS team hang the most points ever on an FCS team. When we move into the national spotlight next week we better have respectable results. I do not want to hear "well, this is Holtz's rectuiting, and we will be better when I get a full recruting class in place".
  5. I agree with this statement. This defense would make me look good at QB.
  6. Go Gold helmets at home. White helmets only on road when we play a team with gold helmets.
  7. Having started at USF in 83 of course there was no football. There was little talk of football. And, I was one whenever the conversation came up to say we should revel in the academics and take pride that we are the largest university in the country without football. I guess I always like being ranked number 1 in something, except 1st in "fewest turnovers caused" like last year. However, once I graduated and football was becoming a reality, I got on the bandwagon to get the team going. Got giddy on that first game with KWU not knowing what was going to happen. Would we look like fools, would we hold out own. Never thought we would kick the living crap out of a team that badly, that I started feeling sorry for the guys from Weslyan. I realized that this team keeps alumni tied to Tampa. It gives you an identity. It gives you an easy way to stay connected with your school. Even if you are in Seatle, or LA, or NY, you can see your school on Saturdays, read about it, follow it. Even if it is only the football program, it is a tie that binds. I also realize that in some twisted way my degrees value, my years there are tied to the success of the football program. All of our reputations have some relation to how this team does. When they are winners we are a good school. When they are not, we are not. I went to one of the best accounting programs in the country. We have traditionally had one of the highest pass rates on the CPA exam in the country, yet the record of the football team carries weight when you say you are a USF graduate. It is this reason that there is so much weight on the coaches shoulders to become a winner. To stay a winner. I truly believe that the program, any NCAA program, should be about building men the community should be proud of. Their GPA should carry more weight than their on field stats. Graduation rates should be higher than the win percentage. That is where Skip wanted this program to be. However, if this program is a winner, I hold the reputation of a winner. So, Coach Taggart...Win baby, Win.....
  8. I wouldn't read too much into it. USF Equipment twitter posted pictures with the green and white helmets getting the new decals 3. OCS 4. Realignment I love all four of those things. What? OMG, we are changing our uniforms when we go to the ACC or SEC? Will the match the new stadium seats at Bush/Pepin/Steinbrenner Field?
  9. I don't believe this to be true. I have a coaches shirt, from the closet, that was from Nike era and it is a dark green. My favorite polo for lucky golf days.
  10. They started to build a better highlight reel but then they dropped it...
  11. Seneca Wallace doesn't even have his own playbook yet, he is bowwowing Colt's until he gets cut.
  12. I got the 15% off card. I believe it was good for team store, Claw, and stadium concessions. Missed the BBQ though.
  13. Agree Mike, however we need butts in seats. I do not like having visitors in the seats in front of me, but when we are not selling those seats to USF fans they need to be filled. Also, the trick is to turn those one timers into regular ticket buyers, into season ticket holders. That takes skill, and a step up model that makes sense. Tell you, the Lightning know how to do this. We buy tickets on their ticket exchange. They have data mined and saw our buying patterns. Been invited to two private functions and now a third for a corporate event. Not asking me to buy, but getting me tied into the program, and making me WANT to be part of that program. BTW, you were still the best rep I have had....
  14. Recipe for disaster for the season. I do not want to see two guys getting half way in rythmn. Pick one, stick with him and let him find the speed of the game and Coach can see game time strengths and weaknesses. As for Bench, it is not like this kid was PSUs 4 year starter, why do so many think he was God's gift to USF?
  15. As long as it does not become the walk to shame..... Hopefully we still do the running of the Bulls into the stadium. How about Champions stroll? sucks for us North end tailgaters. We now need to leave our stuff to walk around the stadium. That is just a recipe to be ripped off.
  16. Congratulations. I am sure he will make us all proud, any accomplishments from USF reflects on all alumni. So good to see second generation Bulls
  17. Based on one article? Let's see how this plays out first. No, it's based on the fact that he wanted to make him a pocket passer from the outset. exactly....but in all fairness i don't think skip knew how to run an offense that BJ would excel in. but regardless...BJ is still a LONGSHOT to make the 53 man roster for San Fran. He will most likely be practice squad QB and the niners will turn him into Russell Wilson to prep for their biggest rival. That changed this weekend. BJ the only 49er QB with a touchdown in pre-season and not in scrub time. Moved up the 3rd if not back up....
  18. Andy is a great guy and has a super coaching career ahead of him. He was instrumental in Dominique Jones' career here and in transitioning to the NBA, as well as being a players coach. Good luck Andy.
  19. Perhaps he is focusing on the more distant players that may not know the school as well and who the staff will not see as often. Does he need the locals at the Jr. days since he (staff) will see these locals all season long when they drive to practice and games. Did UF reach out to the Alachua coaches? I mean, put it in perspective coach, FSUcks ,and the Gayturs are distant schools to your HS. CWT can stop by for lunch, not that he will now unless he has a baby bottle.
