I am also a 4-year member of the HOT Marching and Pep Bands, and the First time I can remember playing the Alma Mater is at the Women's Cincy game. We always play the Fight song or March V and leave because by the time we're done wit heither one there is almost no one in the Sundome and more. And about during game music, lsteele2 is right, we have almost no control over when we play or for how long; so sometimes we have to cut off in the middle of a song whether the fans like the song or not. now that I've said that go ahead and flame away.
