  1. Jay Davis was a great QB at CCC, since he had the recievers to make him look great. People forget his Jr year he had a busted elbow, which made then Fr. QB Orlando Rivas step up, which he did against Melbourne Central Catholic. We won't talk about Davis's Fr. and So., since quite frankly its the senior year that made him. That year on offense he had, Matt Galley, LaRue Rumph(NC State), Marcus Edwards(Herm's son) to throw to, and had a really good running back in James Sommers, and I believe Jimmy Fricker was the FB. As the story goes, CCC's entire left wing on defense was suspended, and in the 2nd round Clewiston ran all over the Marauders...had the defense not been suspended, I still firmly believe that team would of won state that year. Coach Davis (Jay's dad), left CCC for Countryside after the following season, that year the team finished 5-5, after starting 4-0 and was hammered due to injury, 31 of the 38 players on the roster that year missed at least 1 game do to some type of injury. I know thats not directly USF related, but wanted to post it for the NC State fans. I still have the Florida Today article from when MCC/CCC played in 2000 that said Jay was going to come to USF.. <sigh>
  2. WolfpackFan- The CCCmarauders that is my screen name stands for Clearwater Central Catholic, its a high school in Clearwater which is about 20 minutes away from Tampa/USF. I've followed CCC athletics for about 7 years now. Jay Davis was the starting QB at CCC his Sr. year, his Jr. year he had a broken elbow. He's a talented kid, and if he plays against USF..USF will have to be ready. Jay Davis himself wasn't exactly the best QB, BUT he had great recievers in Marcus Edwards and Matt Galley as well as LaRue Rumph (who is also at NC State I believe). I got a chance to watch him play eariler this year, and your spot on...he put up good numbers..but was missing something. Even as a CCC fan, Jay had up and down days at CCC..that said, as a previous poster said..I would welcome Jay here at USF..although thats not a possibility now. I'm a HUGE USF fan (and a Sr. at USF), but NC State has always had a way of getting CCC students to come up there, so I can't say I hate NC State, in fact I have a lot of respect for you guys. Good luck to ya, and enjoy your stay on the board!
  3. After two straight championships, Pahokee comes up 20 yards short today..as for the first time in the history of class 2b a team NOT named Pahokee won..Trinity Catholic and super stud Jr. QB John Brantly knocked off the Blue Devils 37-30. Time to go after John Brantly!
  4. Lol, we play in 2b...and we've historically knocked out traditonal powers. You obviously are taking this way to seriously if you just say "championships in other sports don't matter"- its sad that you need to discredit 13-18 year olds accomplishments..espcially at a school that is KNOWN to put other sports above football... heck even Pahokee knew that CCC has tons of state titles..and if Pahokee knew..then man..you need to read the paper more. I have quite a few friends that went to Jesuit, heck the leader of USF's Comm Council and a good friend of mine went there... I know that you guys have some class..but please....save the garbage about the bathrooms..thats a total disgrace. The only reason I'm totally not declawing you right now, is because..the one thing a Marauder hates..and it doesn't matter what you say to me Cee..its a Baron... and you guys have historically whooped there ass... so at least you guys do something good. Now, I'm going to put an end to this..do NOT reply to this thread with CCC/Jesuit comments..this has NOTHING to do with the question..my e-mail is ClearwaterMarauder@yahoo.com and my AIM name is USFbullsfan20..you can e-mail me or IM me and we can continue this..do NOT take up more space hi=jacking my thread. KthxBye. Why doesn't USF recruit out of Pahokee?
  5. Jealous? please..CCC has the most state championships in all sports out of EVERY HS in Florida up till 2001, which means right now, we fall in at place #4 behind the REAL powerhouses. I'll quote CCC coach Jalazo, " I had a bad feeling when we got over to Jesuit, went into the locker room where magically the air conditioning was turned off, the water was turned off, and all the toilets were filled with feces. I mentioned it right away to a Jesuit representative who said 'they have problems with the locker room'. We had to do our pre game, halftime, and post game out on the field. That part was incredibly bush league, and the Jesuit coaching staff, administration, alumni, faculty, staff, fans....all should be embarrassed by such treatment of another school. You don't expect such treatment by any school, let alone one based in faith." You guys won the game, but you were indeed an inferior team..heck, I remember going to the Stake and Shake and talking with 2 Jesuit Cheerleaders and a few of the Jesuit players and even they said ya'll caught CCC on a bad night. You guys may have a "tradition" of winning, and yeah..you guys are a good program... take your 27-0 win.. I'll take 10-3 with being the final 4 in 2b. Now, get back to the subject at hand...read the topic at hand... Do either of you know anybody at USF that is part of recruiting..and if you do..why aren't we recruiting out of Pahokee.
  6. CCC played the Jesuit Tigers this year..and none of those players could hold a candle to the flat out speed of Pahokee..A. Allen included. Plus, I'm glad were never playing them in football again..the way the CCC fans/players got treated makes FAA and Jesuit the only two school's CCC has no interest in ever playing sports against...totally classless schools. I digress- Hopefully we pick up a few Pahokee players over the next few years.
  7. Yeah, Pahokee does send a lot of students to Pitt. There's a handful of players on that team that would do wonders for USF's program. I wonder what makes them mostly choose Pitt. At least it sounds like we've gone after a few of them. I would get on Martavious Odom now though, as he's only a So.
  8. Pahokee Blue Devils #83, I don't have his stats from the CCC game last night, but I know he caught 7 passes against West Palm Beach Kings Acadamy for about 150 yards and had 2 td's. He's a stud, and I meant it when I say I've never seen a faster football player in person..and I've been following Marauder athletics for 6 years.
  9. I don't know about that, but I saw them in person last night..and that sophmore, Martavious Odom is the fastest football player I've ever seen..period!
  10. I was curious if USF recruits out of Pahokee at all, I know we have some players from Belle Glade Glades Central and Immokale, but I didn't see anybody from Pahokee. That whole muck area is filled with more speed than you can shake a stick at.
  11. Nick was a great player for CCC, and he's a great player at USF. I haven't been to Capogna's, but this sounds like a place I need to visit:-D
  12. I haven't missed a CCC football game, home or away since 2000, and let me tell ya..this kid is one of the best to come through CCC in a while. I talked with quite a few CCC players, and none of them say he's done for the season. Yes, he's going for surgery..and the surgery he's gettin will call for him to miss a month..which would mean he'll be back in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Those who are privy to CCC football know that if CCC wins district they'll open at home against Cresent City high school, which CCC will be heavily favored in..if CCC loses they'll open at the villages(yes, thats the school's name)...despite their record CCC will be heavily favored in that game as well. In other words, if you HAVE NOT seen Colin play yet, you need to go see him.
