Correction: Plant never beat Nease while Tebow was there. Plant did beat Nease for it's first state championship, but it was the year after Nease/Tebow won their state title. Weiner is an awesome coach, and he is extremely well-respected across the state. If you were tuned into twitter when this broke, you would have seen coaches across the state raving about this hire, from Jacksonville to Miami. Whoever runs state powerhouse Miramar's football twitter account liked it a lot. Weiner attends most of the coaching clinics around the state throughout the year. Plant was in absolutely terrible shape when Weiner took over at in 2004. They won just 3 games in 2004. In just his second year, he got them back to the playoffs and even won their first round game before bowing out to Armwood. Then in year 3, Weiner led Plant to a 15-0 record and an incredible state championship win over a Tim Tebow QB'ed Nease team. He followed that up with state championships in 2008, 2009, and 2011. The excellent players that have developed under him are endless.

While we are currently medium/mid or whatever, I think that everybody realizes that our potential is what makes us stand apart (massive university size, recruiting in FL, large alumni base, big football state, etc.)

Do we even need a quarterback? Maybe we should run those old "single wing" type offenses and avoid passing. A lot of teams did real well running that particular offense back in the 1940s!

That's a new stat we can keep, "almost interceptions". Using this new measure, we can feel good about what might have been, and not feel so bad about having no actual interceptions. Plus the coach can use it to sound upbeat about how things are going!

The Excitement Meter is going to be way down and the relatively quiet stadium will suck, but I'll be there!

Blitz8RU, I thank you for taking time to post your comments and thoughts here. I enjoyed hearing what you have to say even though I feel differently about how the game will turnout! I think our defense will be better prepared after last game's shortcomings. I expect it will be a hard fought game and then we will come out victorious. 31-24 in USF's favor is my prediction.
