  1. Thanks. Made it back to Ft. Myers myself. Good luck and beat Georgia or FSU. Go USF!! Go Big East!!
  2. I agree that no 6-5 teams should get bowl bids. As soon as every other 6-5 team gives their up I think we should too. Until then, I am pretending it's 2002 and we're 9-2, because we went nowhere despite deserving to go.
  3. Just got back from the game. Miffed by the loss and the boneheaded playcalling. However, I sat next to the WVU fans all night, and found for the most part they were pretty cool. Friendliest opposition fans I have been around in the two years I have had season tickets. Of course, as the Ole Ball Coach said, they're all nicer when they beat you.
  4. Section 133 representin'!! (Is that how the kids say it?) :
  5. 21 carries 93 yards against UConn. Should have kept feeding the beast.
  6. no names. I would never want to call that type of unwanted attention to anyone.
  7. That way, if we win, I can say big-wuptee-dam-doo, we beat a team with nothing to play for. Whereas if we lose, I can say Leavitt sucks as a coach, we should have fired him 3 years ago, as this proves he can't even win games where the other team does not care. In either case I get to say I told you so. This way I do not have to watch the game, I can just go with one of these two options. [The above is said in jest and in my amazement, as a relative newcomer, of some of the fans on thise site]
  8. Between this, steroids, Arlen Specter & TO, and the state of New Jersey giving Rutgers 25K for bowl costs, I am glad to see tax dollars working so well.
  9. CJL does seem to like them. I believe it was Tom Landry who when asked about his penchant for running trick plays in the early Cowboys days said that football should not be just about trying to outpersonnel the other team, especially when you were short in the personnel department. In short, the trick plays are an outgrowth of not believing that we can outtalent the other team in a particular game or situation. We ran no trick plays against UCF, FAMU or Syracuse (I'm going by the radio feed so I do not remember exactly); all of whom we were clearly better than. The end around at Pitt with 6 minutes left and that atrocious reverse pass with Denson at UConn were both on 3rd down when conventional play calling failed on first and second. I am sure we will see one or two this weekend. Also, we did not run "reverses" against Louisville, they were all "end arounds" as there was no change in direction as Amarri kept the ball all three times.
  10. Given that the game was 15-10, and that our D was solid with the exception of one play, I think the D was not affected by the cold too much. The O is another matter completely.
  11. When WVU is on offense: White and Slaton have exceptional speed to the outside. Slaton's carries outside the tackles will not get them a whole lot due to our speed. However, in between the tackles, Slaton and the other WVU back can do some serious damage as we have been giving up yardage in that area. Also, Pat White seems most dangerous when he drops back to pass and then runs on either a designed draw or when no one is open. When our D-line and any blitzing linebacker get to far upfield he has a Vick-like ability to exploit those gaps. Our D will have to play White like the Bucs play Vick, stay in front, don't give him running lanes and make him pass. If he is succesful running then we will lose as I don't think our offense could keep up. When we have the ball, we need to feed Andre Hall on the ground and screens and flare outs (yes I know we don't have a screen in our gameplan), and of course the WRs will have to hold on to the ball and PJ will have to protect the ball. If the offense does not make turnovers, I think the D can keep it close and give us a chance. As with Louisville, we will need an A+ effort.
  12. A quick note on cee's note on if the underclass quarterback cannnot beat out an upperclassman then you recruited the wrong guy: Stefan LeFors and Brian Brohm is one counterexample. Also, I think Syracuse would like PJ as he is better than anything they have.
  13. Pride. Our House. If it does not matter now, it never matters.
  14. I am upset at the UConn loss, but that was a great ride. That was the reason we (collectively) were thrilled to be in the Big East - win 5 games in a row and end up in the Sugar Bowl. Yes we lost that chance, but for those 3 weeks I was as excited as I have been since USF got a team and a lot of the other firsts along the way. We were not good enough this year as a team (coaching or playing) to go all the way but we have WVU and hopefully a bowl to get the ride rolling for next year. Hope to see you guys on Saturday!
  15. Will not help us before WVU, but some things do need to change as was ably noted by many of you. I think as USF fans we all want our team to win every game, and we all make statements and suggestions (some more vociferously than others) on here and elsewhere that we think will help our team. Further, I do not think any fan on here is supporting or wanting mediocrity. However, it seems to me that the fundamental difference in views is whether this program is UMiami or UF/FSU. UMiami = lots of local talent, keep it home and you will win with a good but not great coach (Schnellenberger, Johnson, Erickson, Butch Davis, Coker) but missing the alumni and resources of UF/FSU. US/FSU = lots of alumni and resources and needed a great coach (Spurrier and Bowden(yes I know some think they are not "great coaches" but I think we would all take for USF the best 10 years either of those guys had)), but had to work harder to get recruits. I do not know the answer, but I think its interesting to wonder what we are and it explains some folks loyalty to CJL as opposed to some of the cries for Butch Davis.
  16. Thanks for the clarification. Now it is acceptable.
  17. What do you hope for during the weekly comments? -We're going to kick this team's behind because we're better at every position. -Their coach is a moron, we should win easy. -They're 1-8 for a reason; they suck. -Their front 4 couldn't tackle an 85 year old St. Pete resident, Andre should get 300 yards on the ground. Just what do you expect him to say that wouldn't either give motivation to the other team or tip off the other team as to what we might want to do (I admit running the ball on first down is not hard to figure out, but hear me out.)
  18. Cheeleaders are great. Guys in green velvet holding flags.... ummm.... no comment.
  19. Is Long Island getting the USF game? I am stuck there this weekend with no hope of actually getting to the game.
  20. If we lose to UConn, and Pitt beats WVU, and we beat WVU then Pitt wins the BCS bid. I do not see all three of those things happening, but that's why they play the games.
  21. Is that Marvin the Martian or the UCF mascot?
