  1. This reminds me of all the people who ripped Genshaft's and LRS's hiring. Sad how you feel it necessary to rip the man w/o hearing what he has to say. Let's face it, nobody knows anything about any of the candidates and we won't know anything until he has been on the job for a couple of years. In the meantime all the premature complaining and ******** just makes us look smalltime. Once again, did you really expect Tom Delany or Roy Kramer to apply for this job? This was a solid hire for many reasons.
  2. Good grief.... The man was a finalist for the job at Kansas and Washington State. Do you guys realize how many people applied for those two jobs?
  3. Define a great candidate? Woolard has experience, has working relationships with many NBE schools and many contacts in the college game that may pay dividends when it comes time for bowl selections, seedings and NCAA rulings.
  4. What did you guys expect? Did you expect the athletic director from Michigan or Southern California to apply for this job?
  5. "Atta boy Mike....I agree" Seriously, ignoring works to a certain degree but if the board runs into blatant attempt to flame then the mods should delete the post. Otherwise why have moderators?
  6. It has nothing to do with not about reading things we don't like. It's about having to wade through 10 posts worth of crap to reading something worthwhile. If the board is allowed to become a garbage dump for obsessed UCFers then at some point it's going to stop being a place where it's worth our time to continue to read on a regular basis. There is a difference between having an unpopular opinion and posting crap like the this moron. This is a board for USF fans. That is the purpose of this of this board. Ignoring these idiots doesn't solve the problem of legitimate threads scrolling off the first page. We shouldn't have to wade through the growing number of stupid threads like this to find intelligent USF related discussion. jfcohio: even if the First Amendment did apply on a private message board (which it doesn't) this would be akin to yelling "Fire" in a crowed movie theater. Not all speech is protected. This is Brad's board and it is up to him to decide what can or can't be posted. Furthermore it's not about censoring ideas. Do you really think this guy has any interest in "discussing the other side of the issue"? Posts like this should be either moved to a smack board or just outright deleted, especially when it comes from a "guest". Fortunately, the solution is simple: ban guest posting privileges. Alternatively, have post like this deleted or moved to the appropriate board. I guess the underlying question is whether the board is here to serve legitimate USF fans or to protect the smack privileges of dim-witted and obsessed UCFers? IMO, if I am speaking up there are at least a few more like me that are also getting tired of the crap.
  7. IMO, it would just be easier to delete this person's post.
  8. Why is a guest poster like this guy allowed to soil this board? It's a slap in the face to those who take the time to register and talk about USF athletics.
  9. If you are referring to Paul Griffin there are not many similarities. 1. Griffin was directly involved in the situation that forced the new administration to act. 2. Griffin was respected in the community but not necessarily well liked. His personality did not mesh well with the job of being a spokesman for the athletic program. The department is in dire need of a salesman. 3. Griffin's fundraising abilities were mediocre at best. It was LRS who raised the money for the new athletic facilities and it was under LRS's watch that the University made a serious committment to athletics. 4. The athletic facility was supposed to be built by 2001 but we had hardly even raised $2million during Griffin's last days, for what was then a $6-million dollar project. With that said, Griffin's strength was in his long term vision and master plan for the athletics program.  With LRS we never heard a vision for the future that tied in with specific goals. The department needs someone who can sell the program to the region but just as importantly someone who can give us tangible goals to work toward.
  10. How many fans were excited when we hired Jim Leavitt? He like all the AD finalists have solid credentials and are from major programs.
  11. It's funny to see a kid's real 40-times come out. Remember when Brewer and Callum were touted as legit 4.5 guys? All you have to do is watch the action on the field. People with legit 4.5 times don't get caught from behind very often and explains why Callum never seemed to break the big runs his press clippings suggested he should do on a regular basis. With that said, those times are really slow. Perhaps both Brewer and Callum were hurt. I would hate to think they could be outrun by some of our defensive linemen.
  12. Now playing in C-DOA: The Triumvirate of Shame
  13. Unless he changed his mind recently, Verpaele is done with football and not even in football shape to workout for scouts. My understanding is that he is already employed as a high school teacher in Merrit Island.
  14. The best part of intramurals was going to The Greenery after the game, win or lose. The beer was cold and cheap. Any of you guys ever go to CopperTop next CDBs?
  15. To be fair, that is not Alabama's regular stadium. However it is UAB's....ouch! I can't count how many Alabama fans apologized for having to play in that dump.
  16. Haven't seen a post from him a couple of weeks?
  17. Better now than in the middle of the season. For a player of Fisher's experience he doesn't need Spring Ball to get any better. What he does need is a swift kick in the ass for not taking care of his responsibilities.
  18. The guy can't stay healthy and on the field so it's not worth paying him top dollar to only play half a season.
  19. Yes. The guy had a wicked curveball. The man had over 280 wins, 3700+ sktrikeouts, almost 300 complete games and an ERA around 3.00. These are legit numbers while playing on some terrible Angels and Twins teams. In my mind he belongs in the HOF more than Don Sutton, who benefited from all those talented Dodger teams of the 1970s.
  20. Barnett was put on leave....or in other words fired. He did get some good news: if O'Leary's gig at UCF doesn't work out, he would certainly get a second chance with Orsini.
  21. A Chronological History of Amazing Boston Red Sox Losses, Remarkable Collapses and Other Record Breaking Feats "For the rest of my lifetime I'll wish I could have been on a winning, championship team in the World Series." --Bobby Doerr
  22. Do you want to make a harmless, internet wager on which team will win more games? Loser has to has to post on this board for a month with the signature of the winner's choice?
  23. Pitching? Who needs pitching when you can score 12 runs a game? Seriously, the Yankees need a lefty to balance out the rotation. Considering what has transpired over the last 3 months do your really think the Yankees are going to have a hard time buying a pitcher before Opening Day, and some more help before the All Star game? When your payroll balloons to nearly a quarter of a BILLION dollars what's another $10 million for a number 4 or 5 starter? Don't fret, your RedSox can still make it as a wild card team. Have a ball!
  24. You know RedSox fans are scared when they are know the ins and outs of the Yankees pitching staff.
  25. Easy on those bosox fans, they are still dealing with the curse of the bambino and Bucky Phuckin Dent's home run over the Green Monster. A Day Boston will Never Forget
