  1. we out rebounded(38-33) them and scored more in the paint(32-28). they hit 6 more 3's while taking 6 more. That's +18 for them.
  2. for the love of god people need to stop with this nonsense. a big who is one dimensional and can only score down low hurts an offense. it clogs the lanes. slows down ball movement and allows the defense to sag back and take away driving lanes for other players. youngblood scored plenty down low. you know who doesn't score down low if we have a one dimensional big man there? Youngblood because the opposing center could sag back and play help instead of having to guard Pryor at the arc. Now if you're talking about a big man who can play in and out then I agree but they are extremely rare BTW we out rebounded them and scored more in the paint than them which everybody has been saying we needed to do more of this year. we lost because they shot(6) and made(6) more 3 pointers than us. that was +18 points for them.
  3. carriage fees are going away. tv money will turn into streaming money. only way they get an increase like that is if they charge a ridiculous amount for a big 12 streaming service which will of course reduce demand. isn't going to happen.
  4. he signed 2 of our top 3 NBA players while here. pretty tough to transition from c-usa to big east after losing your 2nd leading scorer to cancer
  5. We scored 83 points and shot 40% from 3. Their defense isn't why we lost. we had 14 offensive rebounds to their 13 so that wasn't it either.
  6. I stand corrected. He does get a $50k bonus if their graduation rate is in the top half of the SEC. They really do care about academics..... of course he gets an $875k bonus for winning a natty it's crazy how much leverage these schools give these coaches.
  7. lol like bama cares about academics.... the big 12 actually pays out less than the acc. sure the payout might drop some for the acc but not enough for some of the best academic schools in the country to join the likes of wvu and texas tech now maybe if the sec or big 10 came calling you'd have a point. no academic powerhouse is going to make a lateral move to join a conference full of 100+ rated schools we would be the highest rated academic school in the big 12....
  8. disagree. I think academics still matter to the presidents of those schools. I think there are only 2 big 12 schools ranked in the top 100. That's tcu at 98 and baylor at 93. Duke, Stanford etc would not want to be associated with wvu, TTech, Kansas state, etc.
  9. facility upgrades were something they could control unlike coaching hires which are more of a crapshoot. they certainly don't hurt as far as making us more attractive to a conference.
  10. I just don't see it. even if they lose top few teams, The ACC is academically heads and shoulders above the big 12 or reconstituted pac 2. I think this still actually matters to some schools.
  11. I'm sure he could take them with him and probably get them paid as well.
  12. Cal and Stanford wanted nothing to do with big 12 for the academic reputation. they will not want anything to do with boise, sdsu and memphis
  13. seems to me that the stadium isn't the only thing they have invested in. we have a new indoor practice facility. I believe a new football center is in the works. They have hired new coaches in both major men's sports. I'm sure there are other upgrades planned as well. you constantly complain about how we have been left behind and now that they are trying to do something about it you complain about that too. perhaps you should just go be a fan of ucf.
  14. if they were of the impression that it was needed to be considered for a move to acc or big 12 then yes they needed to.
  15. Not sure you realize the spike in construction costs we had with the great inflation of 2020. prices of construction materials are up almost 60% from 2014. That means a $266M stadium now costs roughly $425M. 16. it doesn't leave you one dimensional. Playing this way allows cuts to the basket, drives to the basket, etc. It creates space on the offensive end. Heck you can even post up with a guy like Youngblood when he has an advantage. Playing with a true big man that can only post up clogs the lane. it slows the ball down. there is a reason why the NBA didn't want Edey after his national player of the year last year. He is one dimensional. Basketball has changed with the 3 point shot. Look at the stats. Teams shoot more and more of them since the advent of the shot. Attempts have steadily increased over time. Analytics shows that it gives you a better chance to win. The NBA wants 3 and D guys. They want big men that can shoot the three. we will never go back to the 90's. Reggie Miller led the league in made 3's with 1,500 of them during the 90's. That was 300 more than anyone else in the league. Curry made 2,500 of them in the 2010's. Glen Rice was #2 for made 3's in the 90's. He would rank #15 in the 2010's. It's just like in baseball where everyone now understands that hitting home runs gives you the best chance for a win. even if you strike out more. back in the 70's and 80's everyone was trying to hit for average. Best 3 point shooters by decade in the nba 1980-1990 Dale Ellis 472 made 1990-2000 Reggie Miller 1,543 made 2000-2010 Ray Allen 1,974 made 2010-2020 Steph Curry 2,483 made there is a clear trend since the advent of the 3 point shot. they will never go back to the bully ball of the 90's.
  17. I'd like to see walker develop a 3 point shot. it doesn't look bad when he shoots it just needs to put the reps in. get somebody else just like that and I would be happy.
  18. our offense worked this year BECAUSE he didn't play a true big man. That's what stretch 5's allow you to do. Stretch the defense. I guess you would take Pryor off the court for this true big man. Keeps driving lanes wide open. keeps the ball moving on the perimeter. some of you people need to get out of the 90's. modern day basketball is played without true big men. it's all about shooting 3's and driving to the basket now.
  19. we shot 40% from 3 and scored 83 points. they had 7 more rebounds than us. not having corey walker is what did us in.
  20. the best players in history played with a chip on their shoulder. Brady Jordan etc. No greater motivator.
  21. interesting fact about the shark episode was that it aired at the beginning of season 5. Happy Days had 11 seasons so it was nowhere near the beginning of the end.
  22. SEC won't take on a bunch of leftovers just for the sake of expanding. dilutes their product and means less revenue for current programs. there is a reason most pro sports leagues settle around 30 teams. add big 10 and sec and you have nfl lite.
  23. once they realize they can take all the revenue, they will split off completely. this is just a giant first step to that happening.
