  1. The Bulls win their second straight tournament, leading the 16-team field in Vero Beach. That wraps up their fall schedule in style.
  2. I don’t know what game you were attending. No, not much to cheer about, but the actual attendance was definitely north of 25,000.
  3. Their 13 wins is the most since 2018 - with at least 11 matches left. This is progress.
  4. Bulls beat Charlotte 3-1 today and are now tied for 4th place in the league at 7-2.
  5. Bulls beat SMU today and now are alone in second place in the standings at 4-1-1. Everyone is chasing 6-0 Memphis.
  6. If you’re a relative and you don’t know if they’re redshirting him, I guess we can expect to see him in the portal.
  7. And where has Simmons gone? Since the massive game vs. Navy, he has 4 catches for 58 yards.
  8. The RBs and WRs we have are run straight ahead types - no shake in them. That’s what we’re lacking. And zero breakaway speed. Even in the open field guys like Atkins and Nayquan Wright get run down from behind.
  9. Right. It only matters if we start to look like a legit D1 program.
  10. It is a positive that, after all the losing, with just a glimmer of hope, people turned out. That has to bode well when it comes to realignment. Leagues should realize that a successful USF program is a legit investment. Announced attendance of 36,670 for a game against FAU with a team that has been down for half a decade should actually be an eye-opener.
  11. Fair enough. I’m just not sure we have a few years to find out. We need to show everyone that this thing is turning around - maybe like the Titanic turning slowly - but obviously turning.
  12. Maybe, but they both started with similar situations and then Herman got dealt a big blow, losing his starting QB. He inherited a 5-7 team (Charlotte, SE La., Rice, UAB and FIU), but it would be hard to say it was a program in good shape. If they end up in the mix for the league title at the end of the year and we struggle all the way to the finish line, I’d be pretty comfortable in making a call on the hires.
  13. Have to admit, this one does have me squarely looking at Mr. Kelly. Once Deion was out of the picture, I was solidly in the Tom Herman and Mike Brey camps for our hires. I have grown to like Golesh, but I did say at the start of the season that - for me - the evaluation of the hire was going to come down to how Herman did at FAU in comparison to us. We’ve certainly failed the first test brilliantly, but the story of the full season is still to be written.
  14. It’s not the losing, it’s being totally overmatched these past two weeks. Hard to wrap your head around that, given the first five weeks when we mostly looked like a competent D1 football team.
  15. I posted this in another thread, but I think it makes sense here in comparing the coaching . . . The pace we’re playing with is just a gadget at this point. We can’t execute it well enough or consistently enough to make it be an advantage for us. There may be weeks where we get in a groove and put up points, but we’re not able to replicate it week after week and when we don’t, we’re not near good enough defensively to make up for it. We won’t start winning with any regularity until we can run that paced offense consistently week-in and week-out. You can’t have as many 3-and-outs as we have and expect to be successful with this type of offense. That’s gonna take time and MUCH better talent.

  17. Stadium was FAR from empty. Great crowd today. That’s the real shame of this afternoon.
  18. I get it, for sure. The only thing that REALLY was troubling to me today was the reaction of a couple of recruits and their dads who were sitting in front of me and my wife - laughing at the play on the field and removing their “USF recruit” lanyards as they left during the third quarter. No idea who they were, but we obviously won’t see them in Green and Gold. Disastrous when we perform that laughably in front of potential recruits.
  19. FAU got away with multiple holding penalties, a facemask and a horse-collar . . . not that it would have altered the outcome much.
  20. No need for any of that stuff at this point. Won’t solve anything. Not sure what will anymore. I just continue to watch, but not invested much emotionally. On to hoops. Let’s see if there’s any change there.
  21. Hard to argue that FAU didn’t look to be the better-coached and less predictable team.
  22. Just got home. Really great crowd today. We were ready to make some noise and party. Then they kicked it off . . . what to say?
  23. Ro’s been very successful in the financial field since graduating from the Princeton of the south.
