Free Throws. The amount of games we've lost in past seasons that were within the margin of missed FTs is staggering. We hit FTs this last season and won many close games as a result. We hardly ever blew a team out but we were great at the line, particularly our big guy, Pryor, as well as the guards. FTs should never even be a question of hitting them. They're free for a reason. Hit them and win.

No kidding! If Gregory’s teams had shot 75% at the line, he’d still be our coach.

Possible he's not signing this year with a college for the same reason he didn't sign with one last year ..... whatever that is/was?

But he did sign with one last year - ETSU - until his Dad was fired. Post-grad probably made a lot of sense for him at that point. But who knows?

  3. I can’t find anything that updates his recruitment anywhere. I know he had a good post-grad season at IMG, so he’s in Florida. He has to be signing somewhere, and he did originally sign to play for his Dad at ETSU, so the family ties didn’t seem to be an issue a year ago. We’ll see. He doesn’t appear to have a Twitter page and his Dad doesn’t update his.

I was looking through the offers Jimmie Williams received, and I can't believe he got none from a Power 5 or Big East school. Not even from any other top program like Gonzaga.

    Most impressive stat: 2FG% = 61%.

    Don't underestimate that stat!

I wonder if the portal era has taken a lot of schools out of spending time recruiting JUCOs? If so, could be a nice niche for us moving forward.

It appears that the USF Baseball team has quit on Mohl. Pathetic performance this weekend.

Last year, I was all for Mohl getting fired as he obviously is not producing. Hopefully we make a change after this season so USF baseball can start anew!

Billy knew he had to win this year. You’d have to be either naive or in denial to believe this isn’t the end of the line - barring some miracle like 2021, but this team isn’t built like that one to make that a realistic possibility. Billy brought us some nice moments, for sure, but it’s a near certainty we’ll have a job opening at the end of the season - unless it’s purely an economic decision.

With so many good to great experienced D1 players in the portal, it is hard to believe we even have to look at JUCO players...talent is talent though.  We could be great, we could be terrible...probably won't know until sometime in December.

Ya think maybe it’s the asking price?

  7. Really thought the pitching staff would improve this year with Coach focused on that - but there have been no answers. The offense has produced enough to win more, but things haven’t gone our way there, either. We haven’t gotten the kind of year we hoped from Snow after what he showed last season, although I heard he’s been battling a back injury. Then we lose Boser, who was on fire early. And I really thought Drew Brutcher would ultimately develop into a conference Player of the Year type guy, but he just hasn’t. Good player, yes, but I thought he was going to be something really special for us. Whatever the reason, it just hasn’t come together and doesn’t look like it will. After back-to-back-to-back seasons of that, can you afford to just do business as usual? Probably not without some clear sign it’s going to change, and I can’t see that happening down the stretch with this pitching staff.

I don't know about you guys, but I think a Brown, Williams, Jennings, and Reynolds group will be better than the Youngblood, Placer, Selton, and Pryor group that we just lost. The following lineup is what we often saw starting last year compared to what it could look like this year:

    Placer vs Jennings

    Youngblood vs Williams

    Knox vs Knox

    Stroud vs Knox

    Pryor vs Reynolds

    In comparing the bench:

    Reid vs Reid

    Walker vs Walker

    Hines vs Green

    Miguel vs Brown

Both scenarios or any combination of both are an upgrade in my opinion.

Amir is the best recruiter we’ve ever had as head coach - by a wide margin. We’ll see if the new guys buy into the culture, share the ball, and shoot it clutch and consistent like this year’s bunch, but there’s no denying that the athleticism and skill is there. Exciting times.

  9. A new name to keep an eye on - Lajae Jones, 6-7 wing from perennial power Barton (Kan.) CC. Played as a frosh at Tarleton State and then was a Second-Team All-American for the JUCO national champs this past season. Averaged 15+ a game and shot 40+% from 3. Went to high school in Jacksonville.

Don’t worry is a midweek game. Oh sorry is not

Dont worry is only game 1. Oh sorry is not

Dont worry it was vs a good team? No it wasn’t

Dont worry we still have a winning conference record. Oh sorry we dont

Dont worry we are still in top of conference. Oh no we are not

Dont worry we still have a winning record. For how long.

Im so tired of the old tired excuses. He is a nice guy but not the right guy for the job.

When you’re in the hunt in the conference and you get routed at home by the last-place team, we’ve probably seen all we need to see. There wasn’t room for that this year.

    Next 2 series are key

Last place Rice and middling FA-who

Need to take 5 of those

Let’s be honest with ourselves, this team is going nowhere. They’ve had a few nice moments, but no consistency. But we’re not alone - Miami is struggling, Florida is struggling. Maybe next season.

Two new players on the roster. A 6'4" Juco transfer from Brazil, Jennifer Silva and a 5'11" guard from Latvia, Raina Tomasicka. From an offensive standpoint, l don't what to feel about Silva. She shot 37% from deep. Whohoo! But then shot only 39% from the FT line. Hope that improves!

Raina looks like an awesome pickup. With Thompson and Tomasicka, Bulls may have one of the best guard combos in the country for years to come.

WOW, she does look really good. Smooth game.
