  1. MRebe, Doesn't that sound a lot like the BCS? If I remember correctly most Bulls fans were saying down with the BCS before the Big East Conference extended USF a formal invitation to join. Are you sure that is what you want as a USF fan since USF has not been able to reach top 10 status yet? What about the mid-majors and their automatic conference champ bids? The beauty of the NCAA Tournament is that it provides every single team in Division 1 the opportunity to win the NC. If you are Duke or UConn just be respectable in your conference and you're most likely in. If you are a mid major you most likely have to win your conference and then battle a gauntlet of elite programs in order to reach the Final Four. That is exactly what George Mason did. Only 1 in 100 schools may end up doing what GMU did but at least you provide them with that opportunity. A tournament of the top 10 teams will only provide the regular guys (Duke, UNC, Kansas, etc.) with an opportunity to win it. This tournament can also be skewed since the poll voters will deliberately keep certain schools high in the polls knowing the top 10 will be selected. The media will also influece that knowing a Duke-Kansas matchup will have better ratings than some other teams even though those two may not really be top-1o teams. Also the teams ranked high in pre-season will have a huge advantage over those who are not ranked high as they will have a tough time climbing to the top in the polls. Are you sure that is what you want as a USF fan?
  2. MRebe, Like I said before, you can't decide who your opponent is in the NCAA Tournament. Saying that if LSU had been on their game we would have lost is pure speculation. Also UF beat LSU twice in the regular season. If you're mad at the fact that LSU wasn't on their game why don't you tell their fans about it? They did miss 15 of 24 free throws against UCLA. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't make those comments if USF had won the national championship. You will simply say "we played the teams in front of us and won." UF can't decide the winner of the LSU-UCLA or the winner of the GMU-UConn game. For the record I wanted UF to play UCLA in the finals instead of LSU even though we had a 2-0 record against LSU this year. I think it is extremely hard to beat any team 3 times in one year no matter who they are. Playing UCLA for the first time seemed easier in my opinion. UCLA is no slouch though, just look at what they did in the tournament. Some people may argue it was a weak Final Four with no #1 seeds but all four teams in the Final Four beat a #1 seed in order to get there. If that dissapoints you, then you should have some words with the fans from Duke, UConn, Memphis and Nova. ET, In the past you have responded to anyone who has disagreed with The Sheriff by saying "Go F yourself" or something along those lines. At least that's the impression you gave. If I misjudged you by posting what I said I apologize.
  3. The bet was simply to admit who was right and who was wrong, although never really on specific terms. You still continue to be the same immature, childish poster though. Can't beat UF on the court or on the field so you have to pull middle-school type pranks. Hey, give yourself a pat on the back and raise a "moral victory" banner just like Rocky Top is doing. Afterall that seems to be what you really live for.
  4. nukebull, I'm only here to gloat at one fan in particular and I've already stated who that is. The nature of message boards/forums makes it seem like I'm gloating at all USF fans.
  5. Bishop of Bulltown, Your post reeks of envy and jealousy. In the NCAA Tournament you can only play the team that you are matched up with in your bracket. We did not put George Mason in the Final Four. They beat Michigan State, UNC and UConn to get there. We didn't schedule that matchup, we didn't ask for it and we sure as hell didn't do anything to make it happen other than beat Villanova. If you're angry at the fact that we played George Mason in the Final Four, go take it up with the UConn fans since they are the ones who lost to the Patriots. With the exception of Georgetown, UF absolutely destroyed every team they played in this tournament. This includes Big-East #1 seed Villanova.
  6. Triple B, Why be here talking smack during the regular season?  It would have pissed everyone off because I would have been jumping on a USF team that was down.  That is not the point of my post.  The Sheriff said 4 years ago that my statement was ridiculous and that he would take me up on the bet.  I'm just here to remind him of that statement to see if he's got the guts to accept he was wrong.  Like most have said he probably won't.  He'll pull a dissapearing act or throw one of his many childish tirades in which he curses a lot and wishes death on UF fans.  Like I said, this post is for him.  He knows very well what he said to me on this board 4 years ago.  Whether he's man enough to recognize it is up to him.  I'm simply refreshing his memory.  By the way Rocky Top, congrats on your two victories over UF this year. I'm sure you can raise a "moral national championship" banner at T-B arena and maybe give out some rings too. Oh yeah and don't forget your "moral SEC Tournament championship" gear since UF won the conference tournament. Seriously dude get over it.
  7. smazza, Top assistant is Anthony Grant. He was considered for the Delaware job this year and may still be going there. I don't think he would have announced anything before the Tourney was over. mutt, Nothing personal against you here. Just one of your fans who ran his mouth a little too much about 4 years ago and bet me that USF would make the Sweet 16 before UF won the National Championship. I'm just here to make sure he eats his crow and has the balls to accept he was wrong.
  8. and taste your medicine.  Remember about 4 years ago when I told you UF would win the National Championship in basketball before USF ever made the Sweet 16?  Deep down you do so at least be man enough to accept it.  Time to eat some crow man.  Yes I'll know you'll probably go into a tirade, cuss me out, wish a bomb was dropped on UF, blah blah, etc.  That only makes you look like more of a jealous fool.  So bring your appetite for that crow and take your medicine, cause the Gator celebration has just begun and so has your anguish over our championship. Florida Gators:  2006 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, ET and MRebe, spare me your "Go F yourself you stupid Gator" comments.  It only makes you guys look as big a fools as the Sheriff. NOTE: This post is not meant to gloat or disrespect any USF fans other than the Sheriff. He and I traded jabs a few years back. This post is just for him.
  9. This topic has been moved to [link=http://www.thebullspen.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=04022005;action=display;num=1144163502;start=0]State of Florida College Athletics Board[/link] by SCBullsfan.
  10. Iowa never led in the game. Iowa got themselves down 31-7 in the 3rd quarter. Iowa gave up a blocked punt for a TD and an interception for a TD. 31-24 is the closest Iowa was in the game since it was 7-0 in the 1st. There were questionable calls, more against Iowa than Florida, but if you want to win the game you gotta make sure you don't get into such a hole. Florida dominated the contest from the start and just got sloppy at the end. Iowa dug themselves into a huge hole and a bad call occurred when trying to climb out. If Iowa wants to blame anything, blame the special teams that gave up the blocked punt and the defense that put them in a 31-7 hole. Florida took care of business from start to finish.
