  1. Only one of these can really be even considered a star. Kruks claim to fame is running away from Randy Johnson
  2. True, I could be wrong but I felt like it carried over from another thread so I thought it was a pattern. But so could the thick headed poster.
  3. i'm not necessarily knockin it. Just want to make sure I'm reading it right.
  4. Is the all caps thing a gimmick or are you constantly yelling?
  5. Well you also have to consider there would have to be a restructuring at all levels, programs, conferences, bowls..etc. We are also not talking about giving them an extra 20k per year. It can be done. Simply allowing them to cash in on marketing deals is a good way to the kids paid without touching the programs bottom line. As someone pointed out before, within reason.
  6. They are holding, but the dam is breaking. Again, there's no fair way to do it. But college sports isn't fair. It would have to be based on revenue and if your sport does not have a tv deal, you can rest assured, you aren't getting any money. Again, unfair. it would be very disadvantageous to the G5. The P5 would have the ability to do it with tv and conference funds and a little restructuring. Whatever system is selected, it will be something that can be universally achieved by the P5 and capped. I think I would like to see a system where the athletic department selects a certain number of players that they plan to use in marketing and those players should be allowed to receive payments based on that. Then I would like to see all FBS athletes receive a payment from EA Sports for the next NCAA football game, but that's personal.
  7. Transfer portal records show 1,720 FBS student-athletes entered the portal from October 15, 2018 to July 31, 2019. That was more than one out of every 10 players in the FBS. College Football Transfer Market Exploding After Opening of NCAA's Transfer Portal | The-Ozone [Editor’s note, this story was Caroline Rice’s senior capstone for the journalism program at Ohio State. It was a semester-long enterprise reporting project, which will become...
  8. I agree, it's time to pay them. No, it's not the best for any non P5 school but I think one of the best versions I have heard was to make it a leveled based system. In others words there would only be so many prospects that could be given a scholarship with the most money per school. Say there's five levels, a G5 school could essentially offer more money to a prospect simply because he is higher on their board. I don't think there is any real way to make it a even system. It is also not perfect, it opens questions about can a student move up once he has been there and so fourth. I think once we get to the pay for play system it will accompany a P5 break off.
  9. I got ya, the terrible slogan and home girl looking like she’s about to talk in tongues kinda threw me off. Didn’t know what was going down. I was in the dark on that. Feel like they gotta try a little harder on that one.
  10. I see, are we praising or protesting, and wtf does "stop the steal" mean?
  11. well they can't give the award to the front office, it has to go to someone........
  12. The analytics game is different in Tampa than anywhere else. We can pretend that Cash has the same amount of autonomy as any other manager but that's just not true, there's a reason they pulled him out of a bullpen to be a manager. There's a reason he has had three consecutive great seasons of over achieving and not getting approached for higher paying positions.
  13. seems to correct, he was before my time as well, but was a name I have seen some of the OG's say good things about. I saw he was the schools leading rusher for over a decade so I figured that had a big impact. I guess in the grand scheme of things there's really no way of knowing how these player feel unless they say something.
  14. Again I want to point out that I don't have a problem with him not giving back. The discussion started over the term "heart and soul", I just feel like if the heart and soul of USF made that in a pro career, we would see the contributions back. I like him, I'm glad he came, I believe he likes us and is glad he came. There's just another level when it comes to heart and soul.
  15. I don’t believe that is wise spread and I haven’t seen anything stayed publicly. There is plenty about Athletes feeling exploited. But most of that is directed at the NCAA, as the schools are just following protocol. Most school would pay their athletes if they could. Some do it anyway. Can’t find one statement from a pro athlete refusing to give back on that basis. At least google doesn’t know about it. Money management and lack of connection to the school are the bigger issue.
  16. To an extent I get that, not necessarily saying he needs to but he has made over 80 mil in the league. If there was some pride for the school, you would think he could find a small piece of that to give. Maybe he has and is just low key about it.
