  2. Very true, his injury history doesn't favor that type of use. It's would also suggest that hasn't built the type of stamina to do that either. Has he ever thrown this many innings before? Update: Answer, yes last season he threw ten more innings than he has to this point, I think CBM just considered everything and decided SM would best if he rested.

  5. That's a good point. I haven't followed WSU close enough to know what kind of pitcher Heuer is but they certainly didn't mind sending him out there. I would have liked to have seen shane go and get around 12 outs or so this weekend but sometimes he has to work really hard to get 12 outs. Do they choose the teams based on conference numbers?
  6. its a little rough considering a deep run would could call for him to go twice this week. We struggled to get six per week out of him on seven days rest, much less trying to go into the tournament on short rest.

  8. yeah, I don't think any number 1s went this week. Especially those that aren't considered workhorses.

  11. With the Rays planning to start Sergio Romo, a former closer, analysts such as Ken Rosenthal are bringing up Brian Kenny's theoretical "Opener". The idea is the opener is used like the closer except he just starts the game and someone else takes over in the second in a long relief role. The belief being the first inning is guaranteed to see the other teams best hitters. A large scale shift to this model would call for all kinds of change to a traditional game, including the creation of a stat for a perfect 1st inning. I do like it however, I just wonder what kind of rotation there would be. One guy can't start all 162, would you have two or three "openers", and how would the rest of the pen look?

  13. Let’s hope we found some off speed command. They are good FB hitters
  14. If they did that Tulane would be the 8th seed with a WSU win.
  15. Can they? It's not like the game doesn't matter, it will possibly seed two teams.
  16. Yeah, the link takes you back to yesterdays game for right now. i imagine when they get going it will switch over. Doesn't seem like anywhere in the east is safe from the rain this week.
