That shade part would have to be done a certain way as to not fly around Tampa during a storm.

Hard Rock in Miami has shade that I'm assuming is graded for some serious storms, could go that style

Their shade covers the whole stadium except for the playing field and visitors bench a lot of the time which could be a nice little advantage...

Did we get a verdict on whether or not the IPF is open if the campus is closed?  Should we have built the IPF off campus (joke)?

Assuming it is. The Bay Area Examiner (what TDS rebranded to) tweeted out that USF shifted the practice schedule to Tuesday morning and Wednesday late afternoon to not miss any time during the storm.

  3. San Diego State in the season opener of the 2nd year in their new stadium, going for 15 years in a row with no losing records. Only SOLD 23,867 out of 35,000....that actual attendance looks under 15k.

    Which one is this?

    1. On Campus Stadium doesn't actually fix anything.
    2. There isn't much competition to be the best G5 football program in a big market

I really don't know what this is based on.  Though I don't know a lot about all our scheduled foes, I certainly don't think UTSA or Memphis fall into this category.

It's based on the recruiting rank every player had coming out of high school on that teams roster

Based on overall recruiting talent on the roster the only team on our schedule that had more talent than us last year was Alabama. Assuming we lose that and beat FAMU.

That leaves us 10 games vs teams smaller, slower, and more under recruited than us. I think in year 1 breaking in a new system Golesh can win 50% of those.

6-6. We play a middling MWC team in the Hawaii Bowl.

  6. Looking at our 8 game conference slate I really think we could go independent and schedule home and homes that are at least as intriguing to the casual fan.

We’d be giving up a tiny TV deal, but as an independent could give a streaming service a stand-alone deal as a trial run.

Netflix has a hard knocks style show during the off-season, then streams our games. We take the $$ loss but gain brand value through added visibility

89% of ATS bets for this game have been placed on USF, 94% of the money. If that doesn’t change the line will keep coming down.

WKU is basically replacing everyone on defense, most their oline, and their offensive playcaller who led this system the past few years. Not to mention under Helton they have had rough week 1’s every year.

I think this is more about them than us.

Yeah...we're taking out 200 million in debt service for a 340 million dollar project.

Houston's stadium is nice enough for us and that was 128 million in 2014 (about 165 million today). Not sure why getting something like that + a 25 million football ops center, and then only needing 50 million in debt service wasn't a more considered option.

However this is a stadium Populous is building in Germany right now for less than 340 million...swap out those trees for some Palms and I'd be proud to call this Tamplona

God, I hope he doesn't do that.   Make a decision and go with it.   Game plan multiple by guys in by design if you want, but please no more tryouts during the season

Seriously, handling the QB battle in season like Jeff Scott is one of my new coach red flags. Looked it up and how did we not know this guy was clueless after year 1...

    2020
Game 1: McCloud, Marsh, and Johnson all play
Game 2: McCloud, Marsh, and Johnson all play
Game 3: McCloud, Marsh, and Fortin all play
Game 4: McCloud and Johnson both play
Game 5: McCloud and Johnson both play
Game 6: McCloud, Johnson, and Fortin all play
Game 7: Noah Johnson plays entire game
Game 8: McCloud and Marsh both play
Game 9: McCloud plays entire game

    2021:
All offseason its hyped up that Cade Fortin is the guy, after 5 possessions he's yanked and Timmy is thrown in.

Interesting to read some of the language. "Arguably ambitious" projected revenue, projections for tickets that "far exceeded" consultant estimates.

I am increasingly worried that the stadium is essentially us buying $340M in lottery tickets. I'm still supportive and have a significant financial commitment behind that support - but am nervous that we're going to be stuck trying pack that stadium to play against Charlotte while pulling in $6M in revenue from the AAC in 2026, 7, 8 and beyond.

  11. BOG has a lot of docs up for the meeting next week on our stadium. For anyone worried the Project Summary document already has a recommendation section filled in..

    Quote

Staff of the Board of Governors and the Division of Bond Finance have reviewed the resolution and supporting documentation provided by USF and the DSO. Based upon this review, the proposed financing appears to be in compliance with Florida Statutes and the SUS Debt Management Guidelines, governing the issuance of university debt. As such, staff recommend authorization of the proposed Debt to finance the Project.

One of the docs also mentions 10,000 in scholarship seating, assuming thats the size of the student section

  12. I’ve seen references to San Diego State, CSU, and Houston’s stadium but now that you mention Minnesota’s I do see some similarities to that one and those shade option renders we had

Huge club section on one side instead of luxury suites spread around the stadium. And the south side being tiny with a big gathering area behind it

could see a 35k version of Minnesota’s stadium with shade and a football ops facility bookending that south side. Hopefully looks more like theirs than those renders…
