  1. No doubt the offense was great under Weist in 2016, but the Syracuse turnaround game took place in 2015, with David Reaves & Danny Hope running the offense. I'm pretty certain Joe Kinnan joined USF in 2015 as well. Always wondered how big a role Kinnan had in getting the offense turned around. That GCO offense from the 2015 Syracuse game up until the South Carolina bowl game in 2016 was a thing of beauty. Looked great for the last half of the 2015 season under Reaves & Hope, and didn't miss a beat in 2016 under Hiller & Weist. Kinnan was there each year. The smooth transition into 2016 with two new coordinators may have had more to do with Kinnan than with Taggart, but that's just my guess. Don't really know for sure.
  2. Weist was the co-offensive coordinator along with Darren Hiller in 2016. Joe Kinnan was the High School coach they brought in I believe as an advisor. That 2014 class of Taggart's was pretty **** good. Guys like Marlon Mack, Tyre McCants, Jamie Byrd, Flowers, Devin Abraham, D'Ernest Johnson among others. I believe they also got Rodney Adams from Toledo that year. This year's class is the best since then, on paper anyway, off the top of my head. Would be great if they produce on the field like the 2014 class did.
  3. Thanks. Was thinking CSH may have had them ranked briefly, but I guess not.
  4. Just out of curiosity, has USF MBB ever been ranked? If so, when?
  5. I noticed back-up QB Israel Carter getting some PT at WR. Had 1 catch for 7 yards. Have they moved him to WR, or are they just trying to get him some action however they can?
  6. There were a couple of calls that I wasn't crazy about....the run up the middle on 3rd & 12, and going for it on 4th down around midfield...but all in all I was impressed that we were able to bounce back and get a road win when we had every reason to be demoralized after the last two games. I thought UConn's offense was starting to roll a bit the last two games, and that we would get smacked in this one today. That was a critical win that greatly improved our chances of getting into a bowl game. Wasn't perfect by any means, and maybe I'm in the minority, but all things considered, I was impressed by what I saw today. Defense played hard, and the offense clicked enough to get the W.
  7. No doubt, but for a first year Coach who's trying to get his players to buy-in, can't think of a worse scenario than a 42 point loss to a 2-3 FAU team who had their backup QB in there. The other scenarios listed may at least have given the feeling that we're close to turning the corner...that we would just have to learn to close out games. Getting stomped by FAU doesn't give that feeling.
  8. D. Absolute beatdown with almost nothing positive to point to on Offense (except for perhaps Nay'Quan eclipsing 100 yds) , Defense, or Special Teams. The other 3 you mentioned at least had something positive at some point in each of those games to build upon. Something looked broken with us vs. FAU.
  9. For any casual fan who was flipping through the channels, and happened to catch a glimpse of our last two games, I doubt there were many who saw the UAB/FAU unis and had any idea who either of them were. And of course they we were out there getting stomped by each of them...the UAB beatdown in front of a largely empty stadium. Somewhat promising start this year, but these last two games have given the feeling that we're light-years away from being relevant. The defense has been every bit as bad as last year's lately, and there's likely a lot more bad play to come I'm sure. Looks like too much to fix, until the off-season anyway.
  10. 42 point loss to FAU. Aside from McNeese, I can't think of a more embarrassing loss than this off the top of my head. I enjoyed watching the first few games this year. Not sure what's happened these past couple weeks. Unwatchable today to say the least...
  11. Was wondering where he's been. Is all good with him, or did the CJS era cause him to do a CaliBull?
  12. I think there is enormous potential with the offense, especially considering the line-up of opponents left on our schedule. Nearly 600 yards of offense today, despite the fact that BB couldn't seem to connect much with anybody outside of Atkins (as usual), and thankfully Simmons today. Would be nice to see BB in sync with the other WRs and spreading it around a little more. Also, always loved the potential of Joiner, but they just can't seem to get that guy involved for whatever season. Maybe I was wrong about him.. The defense has been mostly awesome against the run, but they were getting shredded by Daniels today. That game is much more of a scare if he doesn't get hurt, and he likely has 600 yards passing on us. Hopefully that's fixable. I think we match up very well vs. Navy, and go to 3-2 next week, winning back to back games vs. FBS teams for the first time since...what? 2019? I agree with you that every game left on our schedule looks winnable. Definitely reason to be optimistic.
  13. Rice is looking a whole lot like a toss-up IMO. Loved to see how competitive we were with Bama, but just one week prior to that we couldn't put FAMU away until deep into the 4th, and prior to that had a 17 point defeat to WKU. I'm thinking Rice ends up being a tight game, and I don't know if I trust our offense enough right now to label this one as a win. Hopefully you're right, but we seem to be pretty evenly matched with them...
  14. The direct snap to the TE on the fake punt was painful to watch. If they were going to do something like that, couldn't they have snapped it to someone who at least had a prayer of making something out of nothing if it came to that? I didn't really mind that much the thought of a fake punt there, but that particular play was rather awful. Same problem with the 4th & 2 when we were in FG range late in the 3rd. Was hoping we'd just kick the FG, but I wasn't totally against the Idea of going for it. The decision to go with the Heavy formation though, and trying to power straight ahead instead of spreading it out was just maddening. FWIW, I like Golesh so far, and loved the effort today, but those were two crappy play calls on critical plays that may have cost us the game.
  15. I would also add that Alabama has the Lane Train & Ole Miss the following week, so yes, maybe we catch them sleeping for a couple quarters. I think the best case scenario for us though would be for it to look something like the Georgia-Kent St. game from last season. Kent St. scored to make it 32-22, and failed on the 2 point conversion that would have made it a one score game....and this was in the 4th qtr. Kent ultimately lost 39-22. I seriously doubt we keep it that close, but it probably wouldn't be any more strange than Georgia-Kent St. I suppose...
  16. How about not getting a haircut until they hit 6 wins? Probably not as risky a bet now as it would have been at the beginning of the CJS era when the conference was a little tougher.
  17. Gotcha. Thanks for the feedback. I'll check for the replay as Cousin Ricky suggested. Can always YouTube it if all else fails...
  18. All games shown on ESPN+ are available for replay same day? Just signed up for Hulu a couple days before WKU, so wasn't sure how this worked exactly...
  19. Are you able to DVR the ESPN+ games? I have Hulu + Live TV. It comes with I believe 1,000 hours of DVR space, but recording anything off of ESPN+ in not an option for whatever reason. Thought maybe that was due to a glitch, since I was able to record WKU (CBSSN), and 'Bama is set to record as well. I called Hulu customer service to check, and they confirmed that I wouldn't be able to record anything off ESPN+. Sucks that this is the case, because I'm often not available to catch games on Saturdays.
  20. I have no problem with what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure that a conference upgrade didn't hinge on the outcome of Game 1 of the Golesh era. For the people who are already in full panic mode, I'm curious what their expectations for the season were exactly? WKU on the road was probably one of the more difficult tasks we'll face this season, and one of the most likely Ls, especially for a team projected to win just 4.5 games this year. Just looking through our schedule, I believe this team looks good enough to get to 6 wins, and go bowling. Is that not a reasonable expectation? We do need to start winning soon, but it seems kind of overzealous to bury Golesh after game 1.
  21. Totally agree. A long way to go, but WKU will probably be around the 3rd or so best team we play this year, and we were very much in this game until things kind of fell apart in the last few minutes. If Brown doesn't throw that pick at the goal line, or if he managed to hit a wide-open Atkins in the end zone, maybe the outcome is different here. Brown & the offense, IMO, often looked a little out of sync, but still managed 540 yards, and the defense has CLEARY improved. Understandable that people are frustrated with losing, but I think you're right, 6 wins with this schedule looks very attainable.
  22. Good call here. He absolutely thrived in Tom Allen's defense. Always seemed to be around the ball.
  23. I remember being up 51-3 at the half vs. Cincy with Tuberville coaching them. It was probably sometime during that first half where the wheels started turning for him to enter politics. Tuberville was also on the opposite sideline for the win at Auburn back in '07.
  24. I just completed this quiz. My Score 53/100 My Time 181 seconds
