Observations after rewatching first quarter
1. Mike Hampton got beat on the regular and/or was out of position.

2.  Wilcox missed blocks.

3.  Atterbury is slow and should not be a Tackle but if he is the best we got we are in trouble. May need to switch him and Norman.

3. Brad Cecil is still growing. Unfair to him to be playing so early. It will help next year but physically is not there yet.

4. Kegler and Pinkney are back ups and not starting FBS tackles. Strength condition coach is a dud or the other teams are using performance enhancing drugs and clean cut Charlie is lagging behind.

5.  Receivers dropping balls inexcusable.

6. Blake cant make reads. He did make some nice throws to his FIRST read.

7. We were competitive until the Sack interception. Then all the wheels fell off.

8.   KJ sails failed twice on punt returns to fair catch and put us in bad situations.

9. While are we still undersized if we spent all that time in the weight room again?

10. Offensive scheme did not look bad but execution was a problem. Its like everyone forgot their jobs and blocking assignments.  Half back toss was a joke.

11. How much of a factor losing Ford 5 minutes before kick off played and the storm (worrying about family members) played a roll we will never know.

12. Rain that night made it cool and humidity and heat were a non factor in this game.

13. This game was the "Perfect Storm" of Murphys Law:  No humidity,  Storm coming, no Ford, playing a running team,  Dropped balls.  We faced adversity and we lost.

Looks like the bees will try to whiteout this game.  They usually do a good job of that too.

Wear green to the game and avoid blending in with bees fans.

Tampa, FL 08/30/2019 - After a lengthy off season following the six straight losses to end the 2018 season, Bulls fans found reasons to feel optimistic (again) about USF Football.  The 2018 season showed some ugly sides that led to the dismissal of both players and coaches.  The enigma at the center of the storm, Charlie Strong, did what Charlie does, he "cleaned house".

2019 was supposed to be different.  Players are a year older, bigger and more mature.  New assistants and a new offense.  Players were reported to be closer to each other - and closer to Coach Strong who allegedly began revealing a personality to those around him.  #PlayFastScoreFaster was a hashtag everyone wanted to use and observe.  A wave of renewed optimism seemed to be sweeping some around Fowler Avenue and in the ether of the internet.

But as players left the tunnel for warm ups, one thing remained the same.  Little energy. A "sullen look" as they took the field - perhaps imitating Strong's version of a business look - that far off, detached and unemotional presence.  A lot looked the same from that point on, save for an old fashioned player/coach confrontation on the sideline.  Well,  Johnny Ford was held out of the game, coach's decision.

The Bulls defense was porous in 2018 and remained so Friday night.  Granted, Wisconsin boasts a Heisman and, perhaps, NFL ready running back that simply had his way with the Bulls.  He, Jonathan Taylor, left the game early but not before amassing 135 rushing yards and four touchdowns.  The Badgers grinded out 234 yards on the ground.  But the Bulls also gave up a personal record high passing yards to Badger QB Jack Coan who finished with 193 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.  This was a quarterback that was dueling for the starting job with a freshman just a week ago. During one stretch in the first half, Coan completed eleven straight pass attempts.

The Bulls, on the other hand, struggled to get anything going on offense, finishing the night with just 157 total yards.  The Bulls new offense crossed the 50 yard line once the entire evening on their last lifeless, scoreless possession.

Early opportunities were erased on dropped balls.  When combined with an ineffective rushing game, the Bulls new offense failed to live up to the hype and hopes many had allowed to develop over the spring and fall camps.  The Bulls finished the night with 26 rushing yards on 23 attempts.  Quarterback Blake Barnett was ineffective, completing only 13 of 30 attempts - again, he didn't have a lot of help.  He left the game with 109 yards and two interceptions; and was sacked three times.

Afterwards, Charlie Strong lamented "It just shows you, we've got a lot of work (to do). We've still got a season in front of us and we just got to get ready. The thing I told our team just a few minutes ago is, 'You don't point fingers. Now, we've got to go back to work."

Let's hope that work starts Saturday morning.

Important:  The winner will be decided with the first and second prediction items. I am looking for the person that comes closest to the actual score, not simply the margin of victory. If more than one person is correct, or equally close, we'll go to item three. Closest wins. If still tied, we go to item four - if still tied, item 5. After that, whoever gives the best reasoning, and pre-game analysis wins.*

Jordan Cronkrite is a true gentlemen
This past Saturday was the annual USF Fan Fest which is essentially an opportunity to meet each of the USF Football players...frankly a poor event that consisted of waiting in lines for a few hours to get an autograph from the players. I did see Derrick Brooks and Rodney Adams (I think). Not a great 'family' event like the Spring Game is (IMHO).  On the way into the Sun Dome, my family and I were standing about 50 yards away from a line of players entering. My middle son, Remy, who is three, waived to all of the players as they walked by. At the end of the line was a player who took note of Remy and jogged over, high fived my son and told him is name was Jordan and asked my son for his name. The player was Jordan Cronkrite, who will be in the NFL next year (I think best prospect outside of Wilcox?). A few hours later, after my three-year-old son met nearly 100 other players and had them 'color' on his paper (i.e. sign their autographs), he came across Jordan again and said to him 'I met you outside' and Jordan responded, "I remember Remy. Are you having fun?" This is how you build a lifelong fan base and is a huge testament to Jordan and the USF Football program. I will never forget the day when an overworked student athlete who will likely make millions of dollars regardless of his demeanor at USF decided he was going to take time out his day to make an impact on my little boy.

$23 for 23 years of Bulls Football - Build the IPF

Join the $23 for 23 fundraising effort to benefit USF Football and the Indoor Practice Facility.  This crowdfunding effort is open to all members and guests.  Feel free to forward to your Bulls friends and family.  Targeted donation per person is $23 per ticket or more.  Those seeking to make a significant donation and wishing to receive the tax benefit may reach out to Brad in order to provide appropriate info to the USF Athletics program.

This effort grew from E.T.'s post of April 7, 2019:

E.T.'s vision was what if every season ticket holder donated $23 for our 23rd season of USF Football?  This would be significant if we could start on this board and spread this to all season ticket holders.  Perhaps even some non-season ticket holders would contribute and even purchase tickets!

This effort is approved by USF and Brad will provide full reporting to board member and Athletics staff member John Lewis.

Wisconsin @ USF Questions from a Wisconsin Student
Dear bullspen,

I'm a student at Wisconsin in my second year and I'm coming down for the game and first of all, good luck to your team in the game and the season.  I'll be here from August 27-31, what are the best things I should see? (I love rollercoasters, kayaking, hockey, nature trails, new food places, and art/history museums, and getting drunk and having a good time is a plus.)

How is the tailgate scene at USF? (Just asking, cause us Sconnies are heavy drinkers, unless its budweiser --- EW.)

Wheres the best place to go for nightlife? Ybor or tampa? (if it helps, I'm in ΠΚΑ at Sconnie.)

What's the best beach?

Best place to get a cuban sandwich and any florida specific cuisine I should try while I'm here?

Good luck to you and your team and I'll see y'all in a month PS: feel free to stop by where I'm tailgating, gonna have all Wisconsin food and good Miller beer.

PS, thanks for any help oh and to cap this topic off so y'all don't hate me for coming here .... **** UCF

It's time to go on the record about the state of the program and transfers...
I'm predicting 11-1 regular season with wins over UCF, Wisconsin and Georgia Tech.

I give the program an A on addressing needs and staff.

Please give your prediction on W-L's  and how you feel about the following below:

1. State of the Program- I think that CCS needs to be on Defense full time and leave all of the offense and special teams to KB. CCS has the chops for defense and needs to so called get off the bus blitzing. Through the infusion of players from P5 programs, we have depth unseen in these parts. Linebackers were going to be a big problem for us, but through development and transfers, it now has become a plus instead of a minus. I am confident that the offense will put up 35 on Wisconsin. I think since CCS has always had awful special teams, let KB run the entire special teams unit, period! I was probably more concerned about the secondary than I was the lb's, but with Studstill and Barnett eligible I feel we have a real chance to be solid. I liked what I saw out of Evans and hope Sails is eligible. Now, just take a look at the weight that has been added upfront on defense, now we have some players that can wreak havoc on the edges and hold their ground up the middle. Something tells me that our ends will be the best in the conference and we certainly have addressed that through the portal. I mean we can be real special at that position.

2. Transfers- CCS did exactly what I thought and even added a few more surprises. I like Thaxton, Burnett,Studstill, Slade, Jones, Sails, Macon and Trice. I am hoping to get a surprise on the OL. All of the D transfers are instant impact if eligible.
