Storrs, CT - The South Florida Bulls took two Saturday from the Connecticut Huskies in a couple of low scoring games. The Bulls' starting pitching stood out today. In game one, Collin Sullivan threw six shutout innings, yielding just four hits and one unearned run. In game two, Alec Wisely allowed four hits in seven innings, giving up just one Huskies run, it was earned.
In the first game, the Bulls could not grab a lead until the eighth inning when Jake Sullivan singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt. A Chris Chatfield single followed by an error allowed Sullivan to score and Joe Genord, who had gained a base on balls, to advance. Genord would score on a Brandon Schrepf sacrifice fly to center field.
Closer Nelson Alvarez entered in the eighth to lock the game down, but gave up a home run to narrow the Bulls lead to one. Alvarez's second inning of work was also a little scary, but he got the final out on a ground ball with bases loaded, earning his eighth save of the season.
