Bulls Take to Field for Doubleheader Amid Four Game Skid

    5/11/2019

Tampa, FL - USF Bulls Baseball, nearly pronounced dead on arrival just three week ago, came alive sweeping non-conference The Citadel, taking two out of three from Houston and then winning the series opener against Memphis.  But since that win at Memphis, the Bulls have struggled, losing the final two to Memphis and following that up with a loss in the series opener to UConn.  All this while while struggling to get out of the American Conference cellar and earn a place in the conference baseball tournament in late May.  D6Pi3qfXkAEspId.jpg

The Bulls (23-25, 5-14) trail the Wichita State Shockers (22-27, 6-13) by a game.  The Shockers, luckily for USF, are tangled up in a series with the American's finest baseball program, East Carolina.  ECU took game one 6-1, with game two later today at 3:00 p.m.

The Bulls dropped game one of the series with UConn 4-2, despite a strong start by Baron Stuart.  Leading 2-1 until the bottom of the seventh, the Bulls' relievers could not contain the Huskies.  Dylan Burns was victimized for four hits and three earned runs in two-thirds of an inning.  The Bulls play two today with game one starting at 11:00 a.m.

     UConn 1 0 0 0 0 0 2 1 X 4 9 2

The Bulls close out the regular season with a three game series against Wichita State, so a lot can happen between this weekend and next.  Should the Bulls pass the Shockers in the rankings, they would meet #1 seed East Carolina in the first round of the American Athletic Conference tournament in Clearwater, May 21-26.
