Tampa, FL - The South Florida bats continued to work in game two of a three game series with The Citadel. Four Bulls enjoyed multi-hit games in the first half of today's doubleheader. Jake Sullivan, Jordan Santos, Brandon Schrepf and Alex Bello each had two hits. Joe Genord added another home run (12) and three RBI to the boxscore. Overall, the Bulls scored seven runs on 12 hits.
Collin Sullivan took the mound for the Bulls and tossed six innings of four hit ball. He yielded two runs, one earned, while walking only one batter. Logan Lyle relieved Sullivan in the seventh and continued the pitching mastery giving up five hits but no runs over the final three frames. Lyle struck out five.
But the Bulldogs jumped on top early against Sullivan, plating two runs in the top of the third. A walk, followed by a wild pitch and then a sacrifice bunt put a Citadel baserunner on third with one out. That runner would score on a fielder's choice. A second runner would reach base with a single, ultimately scoring an unearned run on an error on Bulls rightfielder Brandon Schrepf. The Bulls otherwise efficient game was marred by three errors in the field.
The Bulls topped the Bulldogs 9-1 on Thursday before taking a "bad weather" day on Saturday. This gives the Bulls two straight wins for the first time since April 10. Winning the final game of the series would provide the struggling Bulls their first sweep since the Dartmouth series March 15-17.
